Clan Markers?

Maybe something that would help to lair issues is the idea of a 'clan marker'. Let builders use some materials to make a marker that can be placed in an area and is hard to remove. Then clans can claim territory, wanderer's will know who's turf they are on, and rivel clans can even fight over turf.

I can see a wandering approaching a marker of a human head on a stake with feathers tied underneath and thinking 'Ahh, this is the marker of Clan Fraber, I must be careful'.
