Chronicle CXXXV
Fourth month, Third day
Year Three of the Recent Awakenings
Attacks Upon Honored Embindress Martina and sera Sham
In humble accordance to the will of the Court Chronicler, and in hopes that I might warn the populace who read this chronicle, I hereby submit the attacks upon sera Sham and Embindress Martina.
At approximately two afternoon bells yesterday, that being the second day of the fourth moon, Sera Sham had been in the courtyard, when ser Throgg – a ser of noticeably large size, and who is refferred to by many as a ‘giant’ (the term, at present, is unoficial, and so will be omitted for the sake of neutrality) – entered. “When in giant tromps! Throgg was!” described sera Sham. She continued, “He bellowing was... ‘Where wenches are!’” Apparently, the large ser was in search of seras, or, in this case, wenches. Sera Sham, noting the growing state of discomfort in the courtyard, “deciding that there being not good idea is,” left through the west arch “to get a drink.”
"So, after a drink of juice getting, back to courtyard going, to see if still there is,” sera Sham expressed to this Chronicler. In describing the scene she was met with, sera Sham is quoted as having said, “. . . [ser Throgg] But is collapsed on floor! There standing Savveus and Mairead, maybe some others, not remembering.” As she had entered after the fact, sera Sham did not know why the supposed ‘giant’ was on the floor, however, she did reveal that “Savveus saying he giant killing. Because giant sera Mairead threatening.” The threats imposed upon sera Mairead were, unfortunately, undisclosed in this interview.
At this point, Watchman White entered the scene – “Suddenly, in rushing Watchman White was!” according to sera Sham. One of Her Majesty’s servants also made his entrance here, though his identity whether it be courier or guard, is unclear to both seras at this time. As the Watchman entered, it is reported that the “. . . [servant] at Savveus pointing, and Watchman on him jumping!” It also was specifically noted by sera Sham, and was affirmed by the Embindress, that the Watchman promptly restrained ser Savveus and escorted him to the dungeon. Embindress Martina explained, "The guard or courier pointed at Savveus as if he were guilty....." and sera Sham clarified, quoting ser Savveus, “Anyway Savveus saying ‘What? I just sera saving!’"
The large ser in question, or the ‘giant’ as some call him, remained laying on the floor of the east Outer Bailey courtyard this entire time, until sera Sham walked to him, wondering if he was all right. "Walking to giant's face, and at looking. . . . Suddenly eyes opening! . . . Him me grabbing! . . . Up standing, Sham about waving! . . . [and] he (ser Throgg) saying... ‘You I breaking!’ . . . And my (right) arm grabbing and like stick snapping!” After having breaking sera Sham’s arm, ser Throgg then reached for sera Sham’s head when Embindress Martina took action and attempted to divert the ser from causing any further damage or injury to sera Sham. With her dagger, Embindress Martina waved at the ser, and did indeed distract him, as he then dropped sera Sham to the floor. As reported by sera Sham, the giant, upon seeing the Embindress, then grabbed her, pulled the Embindress up to his face and said to her (as still according to sera Sham), “Now you I breaking!” At which point he broke the Embindress’ left leg. In her own defense, Embindress Martina used her dagger upon ser Throgg – cutting and slashing his neck. The ser collapsed onto the ground, dropping Embindress Martina, and there layed until Watchman White returned to restrain and escort him to the dungeon.
Both seras have had their broken bones treated by Apprentice Anabeth, however; the state of the ‘giant’ is uncertain to this chronicler. I, nor did the seras in this interview, did and do not know if he has yet been seen by a Healer.
This chronicle will be, of course, subject to any and/or all changes and corrections, as I humbly ask the Readers to use their discretion to indicate to me any falsehood I may have mistakenly communicated.
