Ok, Im not a Skotos Member yet, And I prolly am not gonna be one, but if I am, Will the new client for the Game work well on 120 mhz 16 megs of ram, 28.8? If not can my Character (s) be saved until christmas when I get my new comp?

Thanks

There's not going to be any immediate change to the TEC client. However, the easiest way to find out if the new client will work on your machine is to log in to Castle Marrach or Galactic Emporer: Succession and seeing how it performs. It's likely that it will work just fine, however, as long as you have a browser that's up to date.

Is there any chance you could have a choice between this client and a new one?

I KNOW my old computer won't handle the skotos clients, I've tried them. I'm on my roomie's puter, but when I move out, I will be back on my POS 48 ram 150P. ;p

Or would being able to use both clients cause problems?

Yeah, I think we should be able to use the old one if we have a old computer, like make a choice between old, or new.

I don't know what the plans are for choice of clients, but it's likely that your P150 can run the Skotos client. I've run the Skotos client on a P166 with 72 megs of RAM using the latest version of MS IE (5.x). You might want to give it a try.

MMhm.

See, I even have problems with the TEC client. The applet crashes a lot, and when the text reaches the end of the box, it starts moving slow and the text in the reading box stops until I stop typing (and everything I typed appears ten seconds later)..

Kinda makes it rough to do stuff when your text appears 20 seconds after the person said something ;>

I'm just a bit leery of the skotos type clients, I suppose. The TEC one has its probs, but I know it works on that pos puter. ;p

Can someone tell me why I can't
run TEC on IE 5.5 but I can run it on Netscape 4.6?

Can't get the game/Welcome Area page to load.

While not super familiar with the TEC client, I am familiar with the Marrach one.

Will it run on older computers? I suspect it will, if netscape runs, but I'm not positive. It runs fine on my P2-200 with 128 meghs of ram, but this is also under a BSD OS (FreeBSD) and not windows.

Why doesn't it run under IE 5.5? Not positive, but I know IE's java support is terrible, so it may simply not have all the classes it needs. While netscape's java support is pretty good on non-macs.

I haven't played much with Marrach on my mac yet. Though when I did it said it wouldn't run on IE. A popup said to load Netscape and try again. In Netscape it seemed to run without a hitch. Playing TEC with IE 5.x there are problems also on a mac. You only get to see the top half of written lines in-game. Netscape lets you see the full written lines, although it does have it's other aggrivating glitches. :(

Wow, I hope that something is done so I can use IE by the time the TEC client is changed. Much as I loathe Microsoft, IE is generally a better browser than Netscape in most situations. Uh, that's about it: I hope things will work. I'll get Netscape if necessary, but I'd rather not.

It's only on Macs where Marrach doesn't run with IE. They do something quirky with their Java ...
