I like the response I'm getting to the polls. I think I'll put a new one up here every week or so.

I think this poll should be very encouraging for the GM staff at WAP. If it is accurate, then they should be at 90% of the current player base. Of course, the real test will be on July 2nd, because people don't always do what they say when it comes time to pay the piper as it were. So the numbers will likely be a little smaller. A lot will depend I think on the performance on the new server over the course of the next month and whether new goodies like the trait system are completed and effectively implemented. Being able to update current player's characters to the new character generation system will make a big difference in the retention of veteran players in my opinion.

The single biggest factor for me is the actual implementation of the non-combat skill sets. The combat skill sets are great already. Plenty of diversity and styles.
Part of the reason I left for 6 months was because I got tired of waiting for some crafting skill sets to come down the pike. I got tired of having to buy from a supplier (Mondan) who had a 100% markup on what he would buy it for 50% if your lucky.
I always wanted to be able to buy the materials, craft them into some fantastic jewelry, and drive that old price couger Mondan out of business! lol.
I think it would be great if sometime in the future there could be an academy for the various non-combat skills. Players could pay fees and/or work for training by masters in that industry. This would bring people together a lot more.
It would also introduce a real market in to the system. If too many players went in to a field because it was highly profitable, the prices for their services would come down, and conversely in the other direction.
With the current fixed price system, constant supplies, and lack of player run businesses, their isn't much incentive to make a non-combat character.
Because of the existence of a NPC master healer like Melilia, player healers have a very hard time making a living. Melilia can fix anything, for a tiny fee, and she is available 24/7. How is a player character supposed to compete against that other than on the battlefield?
In the ancient world, talented physicians were amongst the most wealthy and respected classes, but not in TEC. One of the reasons is, particularily in this time period, is that most ailments were not curable, but only treatable. I.E. you had to keep seeing your physician on a regular basis. In TEC right now, everything is curable, a one shot deal. In addition, a highly skilled physician should be able to a better job, if successful than a person that puts on their first bandage.
This could apply to crafting skills very well because items have quality and condition. Only a master should be able to create the highest qualities and a apprentice, the lowest. Of course this could be modified by a person's innate talent for that type of work. I.e. high manual dexterity, concentration, etc.
A lot of people complain that many of our mental attributes have no IG purpose other than to roleplay. I think many of them could be tied in to non-combat skills. Another way they could be used more is if people developed mental illness. A player with high empathy for example would be much more likely to treat such a condition.

I was happy to pay to play. In fact I told Scott I would be first in line.
However I run from behind a firewall, and it's not feasible to pay for a game I can't access from behind it. Period. I pay for dsl access and not to be able to use it , nor keep my phone line free has me on a rethink. Currently I'm using this free month to see if the firewall issue will be addressed. If it isn't in the next two weeks I'll begin roleplaying to leave and get my gals wrapped up.
Sorry to post it here but ifI'm voting none of the above, I feel I should at least put an explanation up. :)
Here's hoping it gets resolved quick!

Where is your firewall on the network relative to you? Most folks that I know who have DSL run their own firewall, and, if that's the case, you should be able to change your firewall's configuration to allow you to play. If your ISP is running the firewall at their end, and they are a sane ISP, they should be willing to open up a port at your request.

Fortunately for me, I have this TECHguy that I keep chained and feed him Doritos :D He stayed up all night and got it working.
Opening the port wasn't the problem. It was something else and since I let him off the chain to go to bed and sleep, I'll post his solution in here later. Or maybe I'll send it to Bruce?
Whichever but happily
*Dances about wildly*I get to stay and pay to play!!

Well I must say that the results of the current poll look very promising. If this is true and 75% of the current playerbase is staying beyond June I'm sure the GMs are happy. But of course those leaving probably haven't responded to the poll so I would probably put the numbers between 40 or 60 percent.

That makes sense, but I think most people are staying as long as they can play for free. It's no big deal to transfer over to the Scotos server so why would they leave until their free month was up? Unless they were real jerks, in which case, we probably don't want them here anyway.
Like I said, the true measure will be July 2nd. I'm sure WAP knows how many people have already signed up, and how many unique logins they are having, to track what is really go on. I hardly doubt they would release that information, particularily at this time.

What if you are an old Skotos player and a TEC player who made the move???

Kristine, you are simply one of a few TECers who has made the move(with the server) ..and knew where to get the welcome mat. ;)

I don't get that :(
I made the move...and knew where to get the welcome mat? What mat? :D
Ah, never mind my usual useless post. That's what I'm good at (useless things), and if you don't believe it--go surf the Marrachian forums for my stuff

There's absolutely nothing wrong with useless posts. :p
Take this current post for example... TOTALLY USELESS! :D
anyway, I'm still procrastinating and I have my law assignment due tomorrow and another assignment that was due yesterday.
I'll get around to it.
Seriously, I will...
nah, who am I kidding ;)
