Scott, would it be possible if you could keep the old TEC client as an option to use if we cant use the new skotos one, when it comes out?

I really wouldn't worry about the java client becoming any harder on your machine to run than it currently is. We haven't worked out exactly what's going to happen, but if anything, I'd expect the changes that have been discussed to make it perform better.
