On the Deaths of Two Elementals

To the Gentle Denizenry of Her Majesty's Castle Marrach;

In accordance to the will of the Lord Chamberlain and the Chronicler of the Court, I offer here a recount of the deaths of the Sylph and Salamander as done so by their own hands.

On the night of the twenty-fifth day of this month, the Sylph and the Salamander engaged themselves in a fight located in the Outer Bailey's Gate Courtyard. Ser Kyramor, Deputy to the Winter Watch, happened to witness a portion of this happening, and recalled for me what he could remember. The Deputy noted the Sylph as it was in the Gate Courtyard, saying that he lingered there in order to "manage any situation that got out of hand." Time went on and the Deputy claimed that the Elemental "got annoyed" with him and asked that he leave, which the Deputy did; taking himself then to the Outer Bailey's Refectory. Ironically, in the Refectory happened to be the Fire Elemental, the Salamander.

Deputy Kyramor approached the Salamander in order to talk, when, as he recalled, a ser entered the eastern end of the dining hall and mentioned the presence of the other Elemental in the western courtyard. At this, the Deputy claimed that the Salamander "grew enraged and started attacking, apparently at random, wounding two or three people." Sans "a couple of insistent seras who were lucky to not be wounded," the people there evacuated the Refectory. Returning to the side of the Salamander with Corporal Jarrod's approval, Deputy Kyramor entreated upon the Salamander to speak of his hatred for the Sylph. "Before he could attack," reported the Deputy, "I offered to take him to where the Sylph was in order to fight her."

Carrying the Salamander upon his shoulder after encouraging the Elemental further to fight, Deputy Kyramor left the Refectory for the Gate Courtyard to meet the other Elemental. Upon the Deputy's entrance, the two Elementals "became enraged and began to fight rather inprecisely, wounding several" including the Deputy himself, Deputy Zeakk, sera Kenderaela, and perhaps others as he did recall. The Sylph and Salamander fought for perhaps a minute (as the Deputy was able to remember) and both appeared to weaken to a point where one was unable to do much in the way of attacking the other.

The final attack was launched and both shrank to the point of disappearing: "With the Sylph, she beat her wings quite violently, got a rather pained look on her face and then shrunk until she was too small to see, at which point there was an audible popping noise." The disappearance of the Salamander involved the flames of his body diminishing, likewise causing the heat of his body to "instantly" cease, and with a flash of bright light he "was gone." These images have thus become the last to be seen of these Elementals, therewith explaining the citation that they have indeed "disappeared," or have met their ends.

(Please read the upcoming companion chronicle that details the deaths of the two remaining Elementals.)

This chronicle will be subject to changes and corrections, as I humbly ask that the Readers indicate to me through their discretion any falsehood I may have mistakenly communicated.

In service to Her Majesty Queen Vivienne, the Lord Chamberlain, the Chronicler's Office, and the Denizenry of our Gracious Queen's Realm;
