Great Job Scott!
I've read some posts criticizing you and basically calling down all kinds of evil on you for moving TEC to Skotos, on other move related complaints.
Just wanted you to know...what you've done has seriously IMPROVED this game! With the obvious improvements that have already been implemeted and more on the way......The New Forums system too. It's all great!!!
LONG LIVE SCOTT!!!!
P.S.: To all the new staff at Skotos.....I'm sure I speak for most if not all the TEC dedicated player base when I say....we look forward to getting to know you all.
Just my little piece of appreciation......

Maybe you two are either crazy or just rolling in cash, it doesn't really matter. I have to admit the new system is alot better but the fact that we have to pay now REALLY SUCKS. Don't try to sugar coat it with the whole newer and better crap. I personally could afford it but there is the little issue of getting my parents concent with the credit card thing, and no I can't do the pay by check because there is no way a kid my age will be able to keep $100 intact and unspent for a whole year in reserve for a game that used to be a think anyone had access to. I do hope that when TEC 3D (which seems to be the cause of the move) is done being built, that we can all go back to living a happy care free life without paying for a good game. I doubt this will happen though and it gives me great pleasure in summing this up with
Scott, with all due respect, you sure do suck

Ok, I'll just have to point this out. Do you think the game is worth the money? I certainly do. I certainly think Castle Marrach is worth it too. If TEC wasn't moved to Skotos, it'd be GONE. Yes, no more TEC. So what would you prefer? Being able to play the game (it's optional anyway) if you shell out some cash or not being able to because TEC closes down? If you aren't willing to pay, it's a no-win situation. You stop playing either way. Nothing can be done about it :(
Show some consideration to those who like the game enough to pay for it. As I said, otherwise there WILL be no game.

I think that they could have at least found a site to support them that offers a price people will be able to pay, I do like the game, alot. Don't get me wrong but it is still very hard not to criticize. Try putting yourself in my situation, wouldn't you be a bit angry too? I also think they could have found another way to keep it free if they looked harder. This seemed to be spur of the moment and I found out about the actual plan to move the day before it was set in motion.

Yes, we did find out about the change at the last minute...but it most certainly wasn't spur of the moment. Twas something they've been working on for a about 6 months now, and would have been announced earlier had all the details been finished at an earlier date.
And you are partly correct, TEC3d does play into this....the banners just didn't pay enough to support TEC, and I guess any extra money is wrapped up in getting TEC3d up and running. BUT, this move also ensures that once TEC3d is released, TECtext won't be shut down. Sure, it sucks, I'd rather it have stayed free, sure a lot of us would (if anything, just so they could keep playing).....but pissed off or not at the change, what would you rather have... Having to scrape together the money to play, or have to sit back and watch it die? (I'm sure even most (course, not all) of those that are leaving because of it have no desire to see the game die)

Look guys, $10 a month is not bad at all. For you younger people like me who still live with their parents, just give them $10 a month or whatever to make them pay for the game or something. But seriously, TEC is worth $10 a month, IMHO anyway.
And like Kristine pointed out, would you rather not have TEC at all, or the option to play it at a later date simply by shelling in some cash?
Thank you, Scott. It is well worth the Move.

Well yeah, I certainly think its worth the 10$....and believe that in the end, the switch is for the better. (sorry if my post made it sound otherwise...I've supported the switch from the day I heard about it, and I haven't even played that long... :))

The Price looks pretty decent to me. 10 Dollars weighs about 6-7 Pounds over here in england. Sure I dont have a credit card (not that I am a kid but just because I am really bad with money and dont wanna get in debt) so I am just gonna give my mum 8 pounds every month in exchange I use the Credit card to pay for this.
I have checked over a few games and some which seem now way as good as Tec are charging up 2 20 Dollars a month. Even Ultima online charges 10 dollars and look at that compared to TEC?! TEC is so much a better game and if you really do love it I think it will be quite easy for you young ones to get hold of 10 dollars a month. Just save up your dollars. Ok if your parents WONT let you use there Credit card on the net thats not your fault but give them the money and hopefully they will see sense. I have no idea why I posted this because Its just ramble...but ramblings pretty kewl :)

I mean--imagine how -I- felt when CM went to pay-for-play. I thought I was a goner, but miracurously, I got my mum to keep my account alive. I think that the price is ok (I am in no way rich :() For two great games, CM and TEC, it's cheap. I've seen more expensive games.
Thanks Scott. I don't exactly know you, but if you are the person I have to blame for now being hooked to TEC, then I'll thank you anyway :D

Okay...I made my initial post Telling Scott how much I appreciated what he's done in the hopes that really only those who agreed would post also.
For those of you who think that you are somehow in a special or unique situation I have 2 words....Grow Up!
$10/month to play TEC is not at all that unreasonable...if you're parents won't let you use their credit cards then send a check. What? you don't have a checking account...well geee...get mom or dad to write a check for you (paying them of course). What? They refuse to do that? Mail a money order. (I believe Skotos will accept money orders too, if I'm wrong oh well) It doesn't take much effort on anyone's part to pay for what you appreciate. And I guess that there is the REAL issue. You either don't want to make the effort or you don't appreciate TEC enough. Either way sounds like you need to grow up to me.
To Scott and all the GM's involved please, don't listen to the complaints about the move. Those of us that DO APPRECIATE what you've done are more than HAPPY to make the change and look forward to the many changes to come.
Thanks.

I just want to add my thanks to that which has already been posted. I did once before but I realized about an hour later that I had posted on a "no saveday", and in the wee hours of the morning to boot. :o
In anycase to Scott, Jenn (have to mention my all time fav by name) and the staff, I'm sure it was a hard decision to come to, and I respect the hard work you've put into creating this game, and into it's maintenance both technically and atmospherically. Your patience in dealing with so many different temperaments in the same setting has been stellar. I know that I tend to fire right off the cuff and I'm sure others will agree with me when I say that it's because we've invested alot of ourselves into TEC. :D
My compliments and my gratitude for a quality past time and, yet another quality decision.

Scott, time for me to add my thanks, too. I'm so tired of people ripping you up for doing what we begged you to do. For over a year, ever since you announced that TEC: Ereal Rising was being developed and the TEC would be scrapped when it came out, 99% of TEC's player base moaned and groaned at the thought of TEC disappearing and begged you to save it. I know this because I was one of the biggest whiners out there. You listened to us and found a way to keep it. And even though TEC:ER has taken a lot of your time and money, you didn't abandon us. Even the majority of the folks who must leave now understand it all comes down to simple economics and agree with your decision to move to Skotos. Like Malastar1 said, don't listen to the ones who gripe now because you did what we asked of you.
You put together one helluva crew of GMs at TEC, and so far from what I've seen of the folks here at Skotos, this is gonna be one fantastic alliance.
And no, I'm not sucking up. I gripe enough if something upsets me, but I also give praise where it's due as well.

I also want to add my thanks and gratitude ... TEC is an awesome game, and I appreciate the move to such a well organized and well-run place as Skotos. I'm looking forward to being here a long time...especially since I'm paying my hard-earned (yeah right!) cash for it :D Keep up the great work...you've made a life-long fan of me.

Here is my 2 cents :) I love this game and spend at least 2 hours a night on it. i think 10 bucks a month is well worth it. I know people who are playing email games for 2 bucks a week. so in consideration of that 10 bucks is cheep. Thank you Scott, all the staff and GMs.

It appears to me that you are loved and cherished by all of TEC's players, i must admint though, I don't have any clue who you are. Sorry:D  :(
I was wondering, Is there someway I could recieve E-mail on Skotos, Or do ya'll have like a <E-Mail Address>@Skotos.com fop TEC players and members? I only ask this 'cause I have the Eternal City Intro at skotos as my Hompage, and i was wondering if i could get E-mail here too?
That would be nice!:D

Well granted we have to pay to play the game we all like and some love, Life goes on. I am sure Scott isn't sitting at home twirling his new Ferrari keychain saying suckers, He has to make a living also and remember there is what they call "employees" also. I can just imagine Scott and the rest of the Gods clan grabbing the old coleman lanterns off the shelves and a various assortment of weapons and hitting the sewers to find lunch and maybe a gem in the stomach. We all have to remember that they are people too, and the world, well it revolves around that green stuff, and if people would take the time to read the policies and things we would find that Scott isn't getting our money off the top there are intracacies to he whole Scott and the crew getting paid. So read it and see what you all think I am glad that we made the move but saddened at the same token. I have lost a few close friends by the PTP change but as is life, things change constantly. I would also like to thank the staff Skotos and WA of getting that password change option up and running with a quickness. Oh and Scott if ya are picking out that BMW get the M series with the aluminum I-6 they move down the highway at a high rate of speed. *thank god the speeds aren't regualted here like in the states*

That's actually been on our TODO list for about two years. We definitely want to offer Skotos email addresses to our subscribers, but it's taken lower priority than actually producing games, so it might be a while.

For all the 'people' and i use that term loosely, that are complaining about tec being too expensive, americans pay, what 100 dollars a year? well since the aussie dollar is low, we pay almost 200 dollars, and i am in no way rich, infact i'm still at school, but since i appreciate this game i have gotten a job just to pay to play. all you people whinin about tec gettin better, and becomin less lagful really need'a think about it.
Have a cry.:( ;)

Just to add my input, those of you who are complaining about having to pay $10.00 a month to play, if you really desire to play, just take a step back and look at what you could cut back on. As posted earlier, Govan is cutting back on chips and dip. Look at what you can do.... If you want to play, there are ways that you can do it.
I'm personally cutting out a trip to the bar once a month just to pay for it.. It will keep me out of trouble, too. Two bonuses. ;)

When do you think the E-mail addresses will be up and runnin'?
I haven't been able to play as much TEC in the past few months as I used to, and when I got the e-mail saying TEC would be moved, I was surprised. But now that I've tried it out, I'm defenately going to pay the 10 bucks a month and keep playing as much as I'm able too.
Scott, keep up the good work, if the new game is half as good as this one + all purdy, then you will have a hit on your hands. Great article in PCGamer BTW.

Well... the only thing I don't like about the paying is that well.... a few of my friends have gone out.:( It's sad watching your friend be playing with you one day and then the next they say they are going away. :( Kinda makes you wanna cry doesn't it? :'''( I know that some just don't want to pay and I know that if we didn't have Skotos TEC wouldn't be, but still... I hate having my friends leave :(.

Let me help you with something...
$10 a month is nothing...
If you save up bottles and cans from the side of the road for gods sake, you could make enough money to get a money order and send it into Skotos and play...
Tell me that you couldn't find something to do for $10 in a month..
If you couldn't do something around the house for $10 a month, how the heck are you paying for internet???
On the topic of Scott being the best..
All of you guys are way to late...
I've been saying that for a long time now.. *grins*
Well most of the time.
I am still in school, but the amount of money such as $10 a month is mearly an hour of work.
TEC is already getting better, I like the new Web Site, it's great!
I don't like these forums, as you can see, I only post when I can't get on to TEC ;)
I don't mind paying $120-$100 for TEC a year...
You know some people spend 3x's that on worst addictions... at least this is only bad for my wrist ;)
-Shiloboy-
PostScript-Finals week makes you irratable, mean spirited, and over all grumpy... until the last Final test is over.. that everything is great!!

Thanks very much for all of the kind words and the support from those of you who are staying and cheerleading TEC. Just keep in mind that TEC was developed with the help of a LOT of people over the past four years. The GMs are the ones who really keep it going and alive. :)
