Ok We know dogs are available. And I'm pretty sure cats will be as well, once the dogs are worked out.

What I want to know is, what other animals are people hoping to have as pets? :) Keep in mind these are not hunting helpers or combat companions. And be creative. Maybe a creature unique to being a pet like a mood lizard that changes colors depending on it's mood *eyeshift* And whether or not it's being petted enough. (totally kidding! I'm in a weird mood,of COURSE not a mood lizard!)

Personally I want a cat ingame. And if it could do cute things like this (http://www.tsayadin.com/trp/hweb/kitties.jpg) that would be even better!:p

Thugga should have a little white fluffy bunny. He'll keep some veggies in his sack to feed it. Could a bunny fit in a neck pouch and poke his little head out of it?

Oh that would be so cute!! *giggles* Please tell me Thugga is friends with Andrew! LOL

I wanted a pet monkey for my thief. But then I killed him, so I guess not. Woulda been cool.

My character would love to have a falcon to rest on his arm or shoulder. Now that I think about it, it would also be neat to have a parrot that would learn to say words after I say them often enough. Knowing my character, the bird would probably be squaking "BAH" and "MEH" constantly...

I think a ferret would be cool. If I had one, I'd put a Where's waldo sweater on him. :)

Ah well... I had better get the nicer one:D

Andrew wants a cute, furry cat that'll sit in his sack. Of course, Andrew's very self-absorbed so it'll be interesting to see if he manages to keep one alive. His ideal pet would be a little pod beetle that'd follow him around and know absolutely no commands besides how to follow. But, I doubt the GMs would give it to him. They're mean.

Andrew.

By the way, Andrew'd be forced to act heroic and kill Thugga's bunny. Tis a tough break.

I'd like to see some more exotic animals available as "pets," including tigers, lions, wolves, and escarni. They would be prone to attacking people with little or no provocation, be incredibly expensive (upwards of 50 talents, I'd say, for all but the wolves), and could only be controlled by people with high empathy or that trait that affects animal handling. In addition, they would require a great deal of time with the animal trainer that Scott had mentioned in his post. Now, I don't see these being things that regular headcounts could own; instead, they'd be for the more wealthy patricians, who could afford special living quarters, display cages, and trainers. The pets wouldn't be useful for hunting, but only for showing off as status symbols, or to entertain guests with at a fashionable party. I'm fairly sure that various patricians and emperors of Rome did own tigers and elephants, among other things.

Oh, and at the other end of the spectrum, I'd like to see fighting rats and roosters available in the game. They could maybe be caught in the sewers or purchased from special dealers at inexpensive prices. Extremely large and well-built rats (especially veteran fighters) would be valuable, and possibly cost up to a talent, but most would be in the range of a few cents. These rats would be used to hold rat fights in some of the seedier bars of Iridine, which could be bet on or just watched for entertainment by some of the city's less savory characters. I think it'd also be interesting if this activity was mildly illegal, but the constables usually tolerated it (especially if offered a small bribe).

Which brings me to yet another point - NPC constables should be able to be bribed, if offered enough money. The success rate for this would depend on the amount of money offered, the character's criminal reputation, the magnitude of the crime commited, and also the character's appearance, charisma, and empathy.

Er - I guess that's it from me.

I want a ferret for my character. Because I couldn't take it on trips becuase my reletives lives in a state where ferrets are illegal, and I already thought of an IC reason for my character to have one too. But I don't know if ferrets were in Rome. And if it was introduced as an exotic pet, the price would go up for a little furry creature. Tho seeing it emote crawling up a characters shoulders would be cool. Tho I bet emotes for a ferret would be hard to code, at least emotes for it that I could think of. But I have no knowledge of coding either. And if you've ever seen Beastmaster the movie, ferrets would be the ideal pet for thieves that could train it special ways. And ferrets could stay in a sack for a while and still live aslong as it has air. *wonders if they arn't introduced the GM's would code his character one for some RP's*;)

I would love to have a pet rat, not only does it seem economical, but it makes sense. There are plenty of tame rats walking around in crowds in Iridine if you haven't noticed. And I like the idea for a pet arena where different pets could fight.

And as for the Escarnus pet thing, that would screw up Iridine, because who could actually train a friggin Escarnus? And even if they did, it would be around 500 talents >:0

And lordofchaos, the pigeon thing wouldn't replace think because those birds would probably travel at the speed as a gull, and those turds are S~L~O~W

Well, since my woody is poor and could never afford a dog for companionship in the woods, I would hope for something small, and portable. Something she could have in a carrier, a pouch or whatever. But something she could still train to follow her if it was on the ground.

I wouldn't mind a pigmy serpent that I could pick up. I'd let it sleep in my sack an munch on mutton. Let it rest on my shoulder and snap ingrates on the nose with its tail on command. :D

I'd like to say I really like the idea of having pets, albiet rats or dogs, fight in a seedy little tavern where the scum could get together and wager on some matches. I think that would be a great way to entertain us sewerdogs and give us great RP opportunities.

Great idea, Percivellian! :D

A Badger. It could be surly and snort a lot and be tight and warm in one of Vlad's many sacks...though...God help anyone with an unfamiliar smell who reached in there.

I think, even if no one else in the game gets one, that Shade should get a little rat. She has been emoting her pet rat for who knows how long and should get a real one that she can keep in her sack.

How about a chicken? Who doesn't *love* chickens? Think of the roleplaying possibilities! Chicken farmers would become the newest craze of Midlight. All sorts of new food options. Perhaps a farm could be a rolepoint bought thing.

While we're on the subject. How about pigs? I'm sure everyone would want a cute, little, pot-bellied pig running and oinking about. Hey, sounds good to me!

Cheap, easily bred animals, brining all sorts of good food to Midlight. Sure, why not?

**Give farm animals a chance.**

Yikes. Sounds like someone Kiana knows IG.

I don't know what the rest of you are thinking, but I want an armadillo.

I finally thought of the creature I would like to see brought IG. Its been hovering just out of my mind's eye, but now I have it!

A tribble! Only name it something else and make it so that it doesnt reproduce and actually has legs, little short ones, and bright little eyes, and a little round nose, and fluffly fur and so cuddly and..and.. *pauses for breath* Well, you get the idea.

And I agree with Exit. Shade should have her rat. My woody still RPs the rat Shade gave her when at one of her rare appearances in the city to listen to Shade tell stories.

And another pet. A lamb. Like Mary's little lamb. And when it gets hungry it could butt you in the rear and bleat piteously.

:D

Okay, I'm finished.

If people get rats cause they've been RPing them , I want a child for my character too ;) Him and his wife have been emoting her for a while.

I wonder if a tribble would taste good...

Well.. depends on if you like the mammalian equivalent of Uni.
Under all that fur there's a digestive system and a reproductive system and nothing else.

I hear even Klingons don't eat them... and like Mikey... they eat ANYthing.;)

Jolee, I think a tribble with legs is called a "guinea pig".

How about a Mogwai? Like Gizmo from Gremlins?

Jolee

Atama, you could be right, but what I'm thinking of is a bit more round. Like a puff ball with legs. :)

Like a Pekingese that just recieved a mild electrical shock?

Jolee

It doesn't have a tail to speak of. :)

And it would be much smaller.

Nomad

Nomd Wants a pet horned Beetle he can ride, and an Escarnius that will follow along behind, and oh yeah, a sack big enough to put Jessa in, with a hole in the top just the right size so she can stick her head out and see what is going on, but not large enough so she can bob him on the head everytime he is too slow for her. (His helmet is dented ebough from her already)

Why not a pet fish? In a little ceramic bowl.. Feed it black worms.. And every now and then it could make fishie faces at you.. or gurgle a bit. Now that'd be cool..

I would like a raven that could be taught phrases:) Someone to mock the bandits and thugs back. Or perhaps that could be used for messages. That would be neat, but not as a replacement of think, after all, the bird has to find the person it's sending the message to. And, just think how tired that poor bird would be trying to send a message to everyone that ya want to tell...say 10 people ya want to invite to a get together.....
I can just picture it now....<CAW><pant, pant, pant>...a large black raven comes limping in and drops a message at your feet before keeling over legs up...
Hmmm...yeah...the efficiency of think should not be replaced by pets, but perhaps it could provide us with an alternative, more private means of communication...I just want em to be able to taunt:cool:

I would pro'ally have to go with a horse, so when you mount him/her you could go faster when using the 'walk to' command. That'd be cool. Or maybe even a toxic chipmunk, so whenever it bit its enemies, they'd die of poisoning :D *eyeshift* Well, like I said, a hourse of course
