nope, the server refreshes, every one loses up to 90% of their resources, and every one falls into protection. you still keep your tech and planets though.

I got attacked before I could log in today. Does the time for protection get maximised, or if you have only a couple of minutes left, does it leave it as it is?

It's possible the attack may have occurred before the end.
