View Full Version : OOC: Top 10 Warning Signs..

Since nobody asked for them, here they are! Here are the top 10 warning signs that you spend entirely too much time in Marrach (Or Skoto's top 10 indicators that you will be around for pay-for-play)

This is best taken with a grain of salt and tongue in cheek. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif

10. Your character keeps wishing that the cooks would prepare something different since you're tired of lamb.

9. Your dice you used to use for RPG's are actually starting to collect dust.

8. You have named each cat in the castle and know their names by heart.

7. The files of rumors you have stored on your computer occupies more than 5MB of space on your hard drive.

6. You start signing email and other correspondence in your character's name.

5. Your friends that are into LARP or RPG's tell you to "get a grip, man."

4. You have actually gone on a lamb, potato, and carmalized onion diet. (If you have and have lost weight on this diet, please let me know. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif )

3. The files of info about the plots you are involved in occupy more than 12MB of space on your hard drive.

2. You stop drinking wine (or cider) in real life because of what happened to your character when he or she drank some cursed wine (or cider) (Even if I did think the love cider was funny)

And finally:
1. Your character has taken more baths in a week than you have.

Signed with a chuckle,
Nimrod

Just to add a few more, in no order.

You have to resist adding things like "nod slowly" or "glance questioningly" to your email. Or to your conversations.

Your real life partners make characters in the game just to get to talk to you.

You start refering to friends by their Marrach character names instead of the real names.

Oh the life of an addict.

Or that you use me and I when talking about your character. Or that your journal has more entries about the game than about yourself.
Guilty of both. And Nimrod's #10 and #6. And Matt's first one. And I'm trying real hard not to do Matt's last one.

Completely addicted . . .

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a sign of playing too much, but when giving directions to a friend at work on how to get to my residence, it went something like this:

You go south, south, south, east, south, south, east, east, southeast, east, north.

Oh no! Now you guys know where I live! *shiver*

PS. My boss is going on vacation next month...hmm, if I'm clever and ambitious enough, maybe I could have his job by the time he returns...

Let's see, I'm guilty of:

nimrod's: Your dice you used to use for RPG's are actually starting to collect dust.

Seidl's: You have to resist adding things like "nod slowly" or "glance questioningly" to your email. Or to your conversations.

Kiera's: When you either dream you're in Marrach or about characters from Marrach.

And I have to add:

You realize that you're hungry only after your character has finished eating.

You have to stop yourself from addressing people as ser or sera, and from bowing to them.

You cancel real-life plans to attend a castle event (Can we go out on Friday instead? The Winter Ball is on Saturday).

A few more:

Your diet is going better now, since playing is more fun than eating.

If forced to stop playing for a few days, you become irretable and nasty, till you get to play again. Withdraw symptoms are a bad signs.

You can check each room in the outer Bailey for people by heart, and notice any new items without thinking.

You get a new high speed line put in, just to play Marrach faster.

You hack the java client to let you play from work. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif

You hack the java client to add features you want, so you can play more and better. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/wink.gif

O.k., I should stop now. This post is taking me away from playing.

Your RL friends sigh in exasperation when you mention "THAT game"

You can give a comprehensive disertation on the social structure of Marrach to a newbie, but can't write a sociology paper to save your life...

You have to log off at least three seperate times before you can go to sleep in good conscience

When your dorm catches on fire, you pray your computer won't burn because you can't stand the idea of not playing (Probably just me here)

And lastly...
You're stuck on Pacific time whether you live on the west coast or not

1. Your dealing with kids at home and accidently call them a characters name because of something they said or did.

2. You never get to play enough because just as you think you may have a grip on one plot, three more smack you in the face and then you growl that there is NEVER enough time to speak to everyone you NEED to speak to.

3. When not playing, your thinking of how many scrolls your gonna have to write just to get the attention of certain players for the different plots going on, and relate forgotten details on others scrolls for scrolls you sent the day before.

4. You actually DREAM about Marrachians instead of the normaly twisted dreams you once had.

5. Your cooking dinner and suddenly figure something out and dash off to the computer or nearest notepad to write it down, then suddenly realize, hey?! Is that smoke?

Hi, I'm Kathy, and I'm a Marrach addict...

Okay, that's not really funny, but I have something to add:

When you go on vacation, you do the following:

1. Schedule a lunch with other players so you can talk about Marrach.

2. Seek out cybercafes so you can get some play time in...at least long enough to steady the shaking.

3. Make sure to vacation in Berkeley so you just have to stop by and visit Skotos. (well, really I was going to Berkeley anyway, but it may have seemed suspicious, and it sure was fun!)

4. When you get home, you throw your luggage in the house, and head for the computer...

*sigh relievedly*

I realized something, talking to my boyfriend last night. The real reason I started playing Marrach in the first place was because I called him, and he was on-line and told me, "Why don't you just start playing!"

I can go almost anywhere in the Castle without a thought, but sometimes forget to turn going home from work ( hey, it's dark! http://www.skotos.net/ubb/biggrin.gif).

I haven't been able to play for almost a week, and you have no idea how nasty this is. I can't get on the computer for very long before I start feeling depressed.

It's so sad . . .

Guilty of desparately seeking out a cybercafe in Chicago, during the third week of Castle Marrach, just to log a few minutes. I simply had to know what was going on... to read the forums... to write just a few scrolls.

After a frenzied and ultimately unsuccessful search of an unfamiliar part of town for a cybercafe or local library (confession: I'd only been to Chicago once before, so they were all unfamiliar parts of town), I finally ended up wandering into a local Kinko's with a wild, glazed look in my eyes late one weeknight...

You enter the north door. A clean and brightly lit room contains a photocopier, a photocopier, and a photocopier, a work table, computers and a checkout counter. An unshaven student is kneeling near a photocopier. A surly clerk is standing near the checkout counter.

You are standing near the north door.

You glance wonderingly at unshaven student.

You approach the checkout counter.
Artegal staggers to a checkout counter.

You examine a surly clerk.

The surly clerk has flaxen hair, close cropped, and is thin and pale. He wears a golden nose ring. He has not shaved in at least three days.

There is an odd odor here.

You sway unsteadily.

You say dazedly to a surly clerk "Your pardon, ser, I need to rent one of your PC's for net access."

A surly clerk blinks.

A surly clerk eyes you cautiously "Sure, over there. I'll log you in."

You bow respectfully to a surly clerk.

A surly clerk gazes strangely at you.

A surly clerk approaches a computer.

A surly clerk logs in to a computer.

A surly clerk gestures to a computer.

You smile relievedly at a surly clerk.

You say to a surly clerk "Thank you, ser. I am grateful for thy assistance."

A surly clerk replies surlily "No porn sites, okay?"

You pale.

You say "Of course not. That would be dishonorable."

A surly clerk shakes his head sadly.

You stand up near a chair.

Which chair do you mean? A chair, a chair, a chair, a chair, a chair, a chair, a broken chair, a chair, or a chair?

You sit on a chair.

You gaze happily at a computer.

You log on to Skotos.net.

You sigh.

You want to hear something funny?

I NEVER expected this kind of a response. NEVER!!! This has gone kind like Robert's romance with Kiera. I didn't know that would work. I couldn't have been more wrong if I had tried. I just thought up that list at my work (and let's face it, it don't take too much brains to be a telemarketer, so I was able to give it plenty of thought), came home, and put it on here thinking it would get a few laughs. Judging by the popularity of this topic, since my fellow Duelists and some Watchmen have chipped in, I will have to say that before long Skotos will be a multi-million dollar industry with the rest of us kicking ourselves for not having thought of it first. *Robert sighs*
I must admit being guilty of my own numbers 10, 9, and 5, and quite a few of everybody else's, including Kiera's http://www.skotos.net/ubb/biggrin.gif . I have also done the following as well:

1. Telling your boss that you are sick just so you can stay home and play.

2. In printing out any emails from anyone else in the same plot you are in, you kill off a full ream of paper, and have to buy more 3-ring binders to hold it all. (I hope the Watch emails are just as bad as Duelist emails)

I am as addicted as the rest of you. I am just concerned about the rest of you since your thoughts on here are a LOT better than mine. Maybe Skotos can look this forum over for a Top 50 list? I am surprised that no one has suggested a Live Action Marrach at GenCon yet. Or am I the only one hoping? At any rate, I need to go get 2 hours sleep since it is 4am CT as I finish this. But I do thank you for laughing at yourselves as well as I have laughed at myself in starting up this post.

This is to Roberts player, and for any who are interested. Katherine's player will be posting more on Gen Con. Yes we have thought about doing a LARP type thing, but immediate responses were more along the lines of people being interested in getting to know the faces behind the characters. I think a LARP would be a fun thing. However not everyone may be comfortable with that. So, we thought you could either come in character or not as you so desire.. more to be posted later

I wouldn't mind doing a Live-Action-Role-Playing (for those of you who don't know what a LARP is, it is you basiclly act out, in real life, what is going on). I would like being a ruffian in real-life although I serious doubt any of you would take me seriously (like you did anyways.) Plus, I don't have the clothing for it...

This is for all of you who want to post initial thoughts and feedback regarding a Gen Con event. Like Le mentioned, she and I have planned one. Our current status is that we have submitted the initial plan to Skotos, and we are currently awaiting a response from them on a couple of items. I am waiting to post the details on the event until we get that response. Otherwise, there could possibly not be an event at all.

So, in the meantime, there is a thread started where I would appreciate you posting your thoughts on this. You can find this under the Castle Marrach forum in the 'Castle Marrach RL celebration' thread.
Trust me when I say that the event will be fun, inexpensive, and flexible enough that you can be IC, in costume, or just come as you are. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif

Fellow addicts,

I have had an amazing thought. If you think about it you might begin to worry as I do.

The thought is simply this: If WE addicts are having trouble telling the difference between Reality and Marrach, how much MORE of a problem is it for the people who play the CNPC's? Think about it. Those are PEOPLE playing those characters. Makes you wonder how well-adjusted THEY are. I can only imagine the poor soul that plays Launfal waking up at nights screaming because he had a nightmare in which he had to answer the usual umteen dozen questions about Marrach to yet another newly Awakened person.

Just a thought anyway. But it is an interesting one. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif

Here's one I'm certain we all have done but I don't think has been mentioned yet:

a) You preface people's names with "Ser" or "Sera" including, but not specifically the following -- Ser Father, Ser Uncle, Sera Mother.

b) These people, friends, or family have yet to find this unusual.

c) They have prefaced your name with Ser/Sera themselves.

d) Even if your name isn't actually "Ser Bard" "Sera Kristine" "Ser Retribution, etc.

You brush your clothes absently as you speak

You ask your friends to meet you in the dining hall quickly recovering by saying the Cafeteria (If you're still in School that is.)

You've begun to address real people as Ser and Sera (Actually this one was touched upon)

You are starting to call e-mails scrolls.

You call a Marrach player friend up to ask them if their busy and you both know you mean "Are you playing?"

you start adding actions in parentheses in letters to people. (ie. Hello John Doe **smiles sunnily** How are you?)

Oh, did someone forget the threatening to slice their computer with a scythe or get their Gundam out of the cleaners (that in itself raises some issues) and blow the hell out of their computer.

To get back on track, you know your addicted when your willing to LISTEN to your friend going through withdrawl pains over AIM when the server goes down and not beat the hell out of his character when it finally come back up...

Just to add a couple more:

Both are true stories.

When looking at study abroad programs, you really are mostly interested in easy internet access so you can still play Marrach.

and

The thing that bugs you the most about going abroad next year is "How in the world am I going to play Marrach on a 12-time-zone difference?"

http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif

Yeah, I'll probably be in Beijing next year, so Marrach will definately be interesting. You guy'll have to hit me if Yuen starts accidentally speaking in Chinese.

Later.

Hey, there are a few of us time-shifted individuals playing in Australia, Malaysia, Finland, UK, Sweden, ... we manage just fine with the time difference (I have to add six hours and take away a day - you get used to it). Many interesting things happen in the castle in the early hours of the morning. We even have our own chapter of the Poet's Brotherhood, and sera Kristine takes sword practice at strange hours.

Ah, yes, another one has popped up for me recently, but it goes under the category of "general Skotos addiction."

-- Play Marrach
-- Work on my own game proposal (April 1st, baby!)

I've been playing for less than a moon ... um I mean a month and already I have one or two things that aren't listed here.

- You actually start thinking of time in terms of bells (yes boss, I'll get that done within a bell)

- You hate when people walk into your office because you don't want to let them see that you are reading the forums.

- You sit down and design a Microsoft Access Database to keep all your notes on all the people you met (Almost done with it, just need to work in the database opening up my logs for me cause yes I'm that lazy and don't want to try and find them)

Ra'Dorcha (I don't have a problem. I play for 5 hours and I'm fine)

*stand up and looks out into the group* I'm Hannah and I have been playing for about onehundred and twenty-one days. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif

You know things are bad when your waiting for the new processor for your computer soyou can't play at home, but as your planning out your day you think, Well..if I show up half an hour early I can set up for the presintation on this, then I can hop in the castle for this long and say hi to everyone.

My Chef thinks I have lost it, especially when I see someone I haven't talked to in a while, I get a big smile on my face and get excited. He even got me to answer to Hannah http://www.skotos.net/ubb/wink.gif

It's so wonderful to meet a fellow Access nut! I kept my database in a works spreadsheet (trust me, not my choice, I am an access worshipper myself), until I lost the whole file, and gave up. But not anymore; I'm afraid you've inspired me to start over with a new database, and do it right! (with Access, of course) http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif Thanks!

Here is a new one:

If while playing, you keep getting that annoying message that says you are out of hard disk space and need to clean files, you let it clean the files out of the trash. After you are done for the evening, you decide to look at the hard disk space, just for laughs since you haven't installed anything on your computer in 3 months, and are surprised to discover that your hard disk is indeed very nearly full. After looking at everything else, you check the directory where you store logfiles, archived emails, notes, etc from Marrach and are shocked to discover that the directory has 1.5 GIGS of information in it.

I seem to be in need of a Zipdrive that I can plug into the parallel port of my laptop. Any offers?

When writing stories, you are finding that each sentence has an adverb/verb pair that looks so familiar...

I.E.
Alian listens carefully to the rain outside his window. He silently walks to the light and gazes at the view. Alian sits near the window. He blinks lazily. Alian says "Dreary, isn't it."

Yecch. Dreary? I'll say. Talk about drek.. Looks fine on a log, but not in a short story. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/tongue.gif

And I only started playing hardly two weeks ago. Goddess help!

Ladies and Gentlemen, i have a new one.

At my house are two CM players sharing a single phone line, so the Marrach DTs set in last night, real bad.

To stop the shakes, I went overboard.

Thanks to a tweaked screen-shot from everquest, and a whole lot of boredom, I now have a bitmap file called Mintle the Paper Doll.

I have little chemises, and skirts, and bodices, and gowns, and overdresses, and pouches, and so on. So now, when I can't get on the web, I can still play dressup with Mintle :) Thanks to ms paint and transparencies, I can make up all kinds of outfits for her.

Gotta go, time for therapy!

Here's one:

You KNOW your addicted when you realize one of your character's love life is a lot LIKE yours (which means it sucks butts) while the OTHER character has a regular love and is gettin that loving a LOT more in the past month then you have had in your life.....and at this point you actually starting having daydreams that you are this character, and your with this sera, and she seems oddly willing and for some reason VERY underdressed.....before you wake up and realize you REALLY need a real life girlfriend.

Mike (Anyone in the Connecticut, PLEASE HELP ME!!!!)

Umichan
06-12-2001, 02:03 PM
Aww, Mike... I know the feeling. ;)

But it's scary in a sense... You made me realise that my character is even more like me than I realised she was... *gasp* I play an immature, quick-tempered, hyperactive, silly character (you'd meet me in real life, you'd realise Umi and I are twins... excepted that she is the cute, anime-chick twin while I'm the boring tomboyish one... anywaaaay...), but she's also a character that should win the most notable bachelorette character award (Ne Myrth, wanna compete for that one?)... and so would I win the most notable bachelorette player award if there was one... Alright, enough about my sentimental problems. :D

I have to add one in the list too! :D You know you're addicted when your family and friends are so used of hearing you speaking about Castle Marrach or your character all the time that they call you by your character's name instead of your own... I swear, it happened to me last evening; my mom called me "Umi"... Never got that scared for my entire life. lol

Gaby :p

- During Finals week your biggest priority after studying is not getting a good night's sleep, or eating a proper dinner, but playing

- You spend two hours editing notes, developing plot ideas and creating scenes/stories for the castle and only half an hour working on your soon-to-be-completed-if-you-can-just-stop-playing short story

-You dream about playing Marrach, and then you dream you are in Marrach: Seriously, last night I dreamt a strange Marrach and RL mixed vision with Dariel, Johnathan, Myrth, Avaria, Angron and myself as Ravelyn all stuck in the oubliette and Angron was complaining because there were no scrolls in the pit, Ravelyn/me was scribbling away in her book, Myrth kept repeating 'Of course it has no exits!', Dariel was analyzing why we were there, and Johnathan was looking at the bones with increasing interest. Then a StoryHost transports us to my room RL, Angron/Zack tells me it's a lot messier than Ravelyn's would be and then I wake up.

I'm beginning to worry about me . . .

Aw Umi, why did ya have to be in Canada, I LIKE tomboys! :(

Anyway, speaking of anime characters, another sign your addicted is when you start wishing Skotos could convice an anime studio to do a series based on Castle Marrach, and you've already picked out which voices you think each character should have (taken from the English Versions of the shows):

Lobo: Gohan (DBZ)
Santo: Gene Starwind (Outlaw Star)
Sara: Sesami (Tenchi)
Katherine: Yurika (Nadesico - just voice, not personality....well not much...)
Santlar: Ayeka (Tenchi - only female snoot I could think of ;) )
Umi: gotta couple in mind, why dont you choose one ;)

I'll think of more later

All I,m picturing at the moment is a S&M Dominatrix Umichan running after a Zoantropied ser and making him call her the Queen... Huuuuuuuuuh... Wait a minute...)

You know your an hopelessly Castle Marrach Addicted otaku when you picture your character as a Bakuretsu Hunters type of S&M Dominatrix running all around the Outer Bailey with a whip after a Zoantropied ser in order to make him call you the Queen...

*Reschedule my work hours so I can attend Marrach meetings

*Spend over $100 on material alone so I can have a cool Diana costume for GenCon (when that REALLY needs to go to rent!!)

*Turn down a free IMac b/c it won't run Skotos and begin leasing a computer of my own

*Get butterfly's in my stomach because a new ser is stirring up a relationship

Jeeze...I'm sounding as bad is the rest of you quacks! :D

Am i I the ONLY one who did this? I AM addicted! I changed the time on my computer to PST, and made it so it doesn't say AM, it says EB. And instead of PM it says LB!
I think I'll be attending the next MAA meeting...;)

Just thought you all would like the updated version of the list! Casue I wanted to print it ;) So here it is, in order of when it was said:
-Your character keeps wishing that the cooks would prepare something different since you're tired of lamb.
-Your dice you used to use for RPG's are actually starting to collect dust.
-You have named each cat in the castle and know their names by heart.
-The files of rumors you have stored on your computer occupies more than 5MB of space on your hard drive.
-You start signing email and other correspondence in your character's name.
-Your friends that are into LARP or RPG's tell you to "get a grip, man."
- You have actually gone on a lamb, potato, and carmalized onion diet. (If you have and have lost weight on this diet, please let me know. )
- The files of info about the plots you are involved in occupy more than 12MB of space on your hard drive.
-You stop drinking wine (or cider) in real life because of what happened to your character when he or she drank some cursed wine (or cider) (Even if I did think the love cider was funny)
-Your character has taken more baths in a week than you have.
-You have to resist adding things like "nod slowly" or "glance questioningly" to your email. Or to your conversations.
-Your real life partners make characters in the game just to get to talk to you.
-You start refering to friends by their Marrach character names instead of the real names.
-Or that you use me and I when talking about your character.
-Or that your journal has more entries about the game than about yourself.
-when giving directions to a friend at work on how to get to my -residence, it went something like this:
You go south, south, south, east, south, south, east, east, southeast, east, north.
-When you either dream you're in Marrach or about characters from Marrach.
-You realize that you're hungry only after your character has finished eating.
-You have to stop yourself from addressing people as ser or sera, and from bowing to them.
-You cancel real-life plans to attend a castle event (Can we go out on Friday instead? The Winter Ball is on Saturday).
-When you can run anywhere in the Outer Bailey without thinking twice how to get there... but get confused driving to work! :P
-Your diet is going better now, since playing is more fun than eating.
-If forced to stop playing for a few days, you become irretable and nasty, till you get to play again. Withdraw symptoms are a bad signs.
-You can check each room in the outer Bailey for people by heart, and notice any new items without thinking.
-You get a new high speed line put in, just to play Marrach faster.
-You hack the java client to let you play from work.
-You hack the java client to add features you want, so you can play more and better.
-Your RL friends sigh in exasperation when you mention "THAT game"
-You can give a comprehensive disertation on the social structure of Marrach to a newbie, but can't write a sociology paper to save your life
-You have to log off at least three seperate times before you can go to sleep in good conscience
-When your dorm catches on fire, you pray your computer won't burn because you can't stand the idea of not playing (Probably just me here)
-You're stuck on Pacific time whether you live on the west coast or not
-Your dealing with kids at home and accidently call them a characters name because of something they said or did.
-You never get to play enough because just as you think you may have a grip on one plot, three more smack you in the face and then you growl that there is NEVER enough time to speak to everyone you NEED to speak to.
-When not playing, your thinking of how many scrolls your gonna have to write just to get the attention of certain players for the different plots going on, and relate forgotten details on others scrolls for scrolls you sent the day before.
-You actually DREAM about Marrachians instead of the normaly twisted dreams you once had.
-Your cooking dinner and suddenly figure something out and dash off to the computer or nearest notepad to write it down, then suddenly realize, hey?! Is that smoke?
-Schedule a lunch with other players so you can talk about Marrach.
-Seek out cybercafes so you can get some play time in...at least long enough to steady the shaking.
-Make sure to vacation in Berkeley so you just have to stop by and visit Skotos. (well, really I was going to Berkeley anyway, but it may have seemed suspicious, and it sure was fun!)
-When you get home, you throw your luggage in the house, and head for the computer...
-you dream about figuring out who is an alt of whom
-Dreaming in text can go in that category too
-Telling your boss that you are sick just so you can stay home and play.
-In printing out any emails from anyone else in the same plot you are in, you kill off a full ream of paper, and have to buy more 3-ring binders to hold it all. (I hope the Watch emails are just as bad as Duelist emails)
-You call your RL best friend by the name of your best friend in Marrach.
-You buy a day-planner for castle events, meetings, and interviews.
-And you start entering castle things into your work calander and scheduling other meetings around them
-You know you've been playing this game too much when you start refering to your character as if they are a real person.
ex. "Yea Stacey, Lobo is really feeling like dung right now. He's not sure what he's going to do."
-And your character starts gathering different clothes to hoard in your room just in case there is some thing special to dress up for.
-You consider making a carmelized onion, lamb, cheese and sausage cookbook.
-You can roam the castle with your eyes close cuz you remember exactly how many moves it takes to get places
-you got all excited when the snow drift appeared for a change in scenery.
-When you are trying to use AIM or ICQ on the side while you are in the game and start a message "say '...
-Also, when you get mixed up and type on your message service "e or w or n or s ...
-When you are driving somewhere and think of an idea for the game and have to pull over to write yourself a note.
-when you catch yourself putting " before and after everything you type outside of the Castle.
-You add the names of Marrach characters to your spellcheckers so that they stop trying to correct them
-You preface people's names with "Ser" or "Sera" including, but not specifically the following -- Ser Father, Ser Uncle, Sera Mother.
-These people, friends, or family have yet to find this unusual.
-They have prefaced your name with Ser/Sera themselves.
-Even if your name isn't actually "Ser Bard" "Sera Kristine" "Ser Retribution, etc.
-Your thinking of buying an actual brocade gown
-You brush your clothes absently as you speak
-You ask your friends to meet you in the dining hall quickly recovering by saying the Cafeteria (If you're still in School that is.)
-You've begun to address real people as Ser and Sera (Actually this one was touched upon)
-You are starting to call e-mails scrolls.
-You call a Marrach player friend up to ask them if their busy and you both know you mean "Are you playing?"
-you start adding actions in parentheses in letters to people. (ie. Hello John Doe **smiles sunnily** How are you?)
-When looking at study abroad programs, you really are mostly interested in easy internet access so you can still play Marrach.
-The thing that bugs you the most about going abroad next year is "How in the world am I going to play Marrach on a 12-time-zone difference?"
-You're typing in Word and you type in an abbreviation of an adverb (e.g. curio - for curiously) and wonder when the program does not finish the word for you!
-You know you're addicted when you get laid off, and your first thought upon being told is, "Oh well, at least I'll be able to play Marrach more..."
-You actually start thinking of time in terms of bells (yes boss, I'll get that done within a bell)
-You hate when people walk into your office because you don't want to let them see that you are reading the forums.
-You sit down and design a Microsoft Access Database to keep all your notes on all the people you met (Almost done with it, just need to work in the database opening up my logs for me cause yes I'm that lazy and don't want to try and find them)
-When writing stories, you are finding that each sentence has an adverb/verb pair that looks so familiar...
I.E.
Alian listens carefully to the rain outside his window. He silently walks to the light and gazes at the view. Alian sits near the window. He blinks lazily. Alian says "Dreary, isn't it."
-When you ask someone to log a real-life event that you can not attend.
"I can't make it to GenCon this year. Could you log it for me?"

;) ;) ;) Continued...;) ;) ;)

-You KNOW your addicted when you realize one of your character's love life is a lot LIKE yours (which means it sucks butts) while the OTHER character has a regular love and is gettin that loving a LOT more in the past month then you have had in your life.....and at this point you actually starting having daydreams that you are this character, and your with this sera, and she seems oddly willing and for some reason VERY underdressed.....before you wake up and realize you REALLY need a real life girlfriend.
-During Finals week your biggest priority after studying is not getting a good night's sleep, or eating a proper dinner, but playing
-You spend two hours editing notes, developing plot ideas and creating scenes/stories for the castle and only half an hour working on your soon-to-be-completed-if-you-can-just-stop-playing short story
-You are a real addicted dreamer when you start to dream in vivid symbolism about plots your character is involved in.
-You're a CM addict if you buy an extra alarm clock and set it on PST so you always know what castle time is and know to make your appointments.
- Send Kyle $300.
-You know your addicted when you no longer call yourself y your real name, and are instead, to family, friends, and everybody else you know, by your character's name
-When you constantly solve problems the way your character does
-You carry swords around with you at all times... Oh, I did that BEFORE I played CM...
-You know your addicted, when you decide to stop playing, and realize that there's nothing else to do around your house except stare at the computer screen.
-You start watching soap operas when you aren't playing CM.
-You know your addicted when:
in the middle of the night, your cat comes into our room and starts to annoy you, you think 'cats arent supposed to do that, it must be a SH' but then get confused when the cat resists your effort to pick it uh 'They must have fixed that bug' and when the cat tries to rouse you further you wonder how your going to defend yourself against its emotes.
-When you consider drawing "Castle Marrach: The Manga"
-You're thinking of moving across the country from the East Coast to the West Coast and one of the reasons (even though it is a very tiny reason) is so that you'll be on Castle time in RL and can play further into the night.
-When you're thinking about buying a blue collar with a silver bell for your cat
-When you used to be a mIRC addict and now you just log on so the people know you're still alive.
-When people on mIRC start asking if you're a bot since you never talk...
-And since you're always playing CM and idling on your channel(s), you take a peek on a few occasions just to see what's going on, and when you decide to reply to something that was said, people are like: "OMG!!! She talked!!!"
-Maybe you realize you're a hopeless addict when you discover a rotten red sausage and a moldy white cheese in your fridge (now if I only knew where I put those stale candies).
-Isolate myself from my friends and family so I can spend more time on the computer
-Reschedule my work hours so I can attend Marrach meetings
-Spend over $100 on material alone so I can have a cool Diana costume for GenCon (when that REALLY needs to go to rent!!)
-Turn down a free IMac b/c it won't run Skotos and begin leasing a computer of my own
Get butterfly's in my stomach because a new ser is stirring up a relationship
-When you change the time on your computer to PST, and then, you change it so it says: LB instead of PM and EB instead of AM
