Skotos Incorporated

Some of us Skotos subscribers have banded together to form our very own corporation within Droid Arena. This season we have recruited a fairly decent amount of players from other Skotos games, but the majority of them are coming from Grendels Revenge. We are trying to get other Skotos games involved as well by letting them know that there is a place for them to get scripts, and mentored in DA.

Next season, we'd like to choose a more appropriate name for the corporation, to encompass all of the Skotos gamers. The idea for the corporation name was Skotos Incorporated. I've been told that we don't need permission to name the corporation that, but in my experience, it's always good to cover all bases, and is generally just polite to ask before taking. So this is our formal request to both the DA admin, and the Skotos Admin's, for their approval on the corporation name.

As one of the DroidArena admins the only potential problem I could see with this name is that it could be viewed as a trademark infringement. That being said the game is based on a fictional reality some 200-300 years in the future.

The decision on whether you could use that name in game lies primarily with Skotos and we would support their decision either way in that. I bring this up as we are looking at possibly publishing some of the works that have been created for/by/in support of DA.

This is just my point of view and others within the DroidaArena owners group may or may not have a different one, as may those of Skotos.

Thank you for your response Sisyphus. I suppose I'll have to wait to see what exactly Skotos' view on the issue is. If it's alright by them I just want to make sure that none of the DA staff has a problem with using the name.

It's not a trademark violation just to use it in a game like that--only if you use it in an advertising/marketing manner.

However, if you're using it somewhere more publically, like on a web page, please note that "Skotos" is a trademark of "Skotos Tech Inc."

Also, please clearly denote that your company is an organization of players from Skotos, and not directly affiliated with the company.

I think that covers the bases;).
