Be welcomed to (the forum of) Mortalis Victus!
This forum will soon have some stickified threads on what exactly Mortalis Victus is.
For now, here's a brief debriefing.
Mortalis Victus is a game based in a world not unlike our own, with a few, critical exceptions.
Mortalis Victus will, in its infant stage, be very much like a plain piece of paper. There will be plenty of things to do, but the world will ultimately be forged, written and shaped by the characters in the game.
There will be no OOC StoryPlotters in Mortalis Victus like the other native Skotos games have. Instead, the plotter-aspect is moved and incorporated directly into the game, in the shape of gods.
As the game begins, you will find that there is a pantheon, in which a number of gods reside. You may choose to believe, or you may choose not to. You may even choose to single out and worship a particular one of these gods, as a religious in-game figure.
However, as time goes, you will realize that the presence of these gods is not as permanent as one would presume.
The game is divided into ages, each age brings with it a set of quests for the in-game populace (moreso in the initial ages than the later).
Each new age also includes new territory to explore, new skills and knowledge, and other similar things.
The focus of the game, for the players, is not about killing things. In fact, if you're out to kill things, you'll quickly realize that there aren't that many things to kill. It's not in any way, shape, or form, a hack/slash game, and we have no intention of turning it into one. Skills are an essential, but not dominating, aspect of the game. The focus of the game is roleplay. It is a social game where the community, together, aim to not only tell stories, but create the history of a newborn world.
