View Full Version : WARNING! ROLLING BLACKOUTS

Well, it's started.
Due to the Power Crisis here in California, we are now having rolling blackouts to conserve power.
Please be mindful of this if I, Jayland, or anyother player from California should suddenly vanish from the game. Infact, if the blackouts hit Berkley, where Skotos is, the whole Castle may shut down--or haft to be shut down..
Just be mindful of this fact..

I've seen horses, I've seen horses screw, but I've never been screwed by a horse, nor do I EVER want to be.
You have a sick mind.

Sure you guys may not be able to cook food, heat you homes, cool your homes, have warm showers or walk about the house at night without blindly running into a wall and killing yourself. And sure, your elderly may be at risk from dying to extreme temperatures. But look at the bright side, you don’t have the terrible pollution and allocation of natural resources that we poor east coasters do. Ooops! Got to go turn on the a/c, these Florida winters are rough! http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif

Extreme Temperatures? This IS California. It might get almost to freezing tonight. Maybe. It was sunny and tshirt weather all afternoon. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif A little conservation never hurt anyone.

Jennifer Coleman Associated Press:
...outages knocked out TV stations, ATMs and traffic lights across the San Francisco Bay area...
...Sacramento police officers...ticketed about nine drivers within 40 minutes for failing to treat one dark intersection as a four-way stop...

Jeff, what screwed us were idoit liberals with grand ideals yet no sence to first establish a solid foundation so those grand ideals could work.
I just hope that after 2002 things WILL BE better in California.

Que? Wasn't it all the REPUBLICANS who wanted to deregulate everything?

The real problem is that we Californians simply need more power in order to make all the computers that the rest of the states can't figure out how to design. If it weren't for California, you'd still be playing Marrach on an abacus!
(Besides, taunts from Florida? At least we Californians can figure out how to make a voting machine work. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif )

Lobo, liberlism knows know political boundries. Case in point, Gun Control. There are Democrates who'd oppose it just as there are Republicans who'd support it..
So in the end, WE GET IT IN THE END (and I don't mean at the end of things either..)

I'm movin' to Minnesota for that reason alone! hehehe!! (J/K) We're warm up here too, but we keep sending power to California...so eventually we'll end up with no water which will endanger our salmon run which will upset the spotted owls which will endanger the.... (you get the idea) So, to solve everyone's problem, we'll all do what the Amish do, use less energy. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/wink.gif

This brings up a point I wanted to mention. After the presidential election I was afraid I would hear no end to the “chad” jokes. For once, the spotlight was humorously on Florida, and Letterman and Leno would not let us forget that. I would like to extend a warm Florida thank you for moving that spotlight right back to California. The Joke is on California once again, as it always has been, and as it should be!

Both Skotos and its ISP are backed up by UPSes and Generators. In addition, our ISP has a very high number of connections to other places on the net.
For Castle Marrach to go down there'd have to be a fairly catastrophic happening--either regular, long blackouts or really wide-spread blackouts.
PG&E has been threatening some of this stuff (one of their latest memos said they were going to stop buying electricity, start depending on their own reserves, and begin blacking out the average home up to 12 hours a day). I suspect this is primarily a scare tactic, and that the folks in Sacramento are unlikely to allow PG&E to collapse the entire state's economy.
Strange times.

(who hasn't come up with a good segue from rolling power blackouts to a TT&T topic yet, but is still working on it.)
