Well, I started playing Marrach one week ago, and what a week it's been.

I came across a brief article about Skotos on the Multi-Player Online Gaming Directory, and decided to take a look-see. A role-playing game that promises actual role-playing....yeah, I've heard *that* before. But since I had a bit of time to kill, I thought I may as well give it a whirl.

From the moment I started character creation, I knew Marrach was different. Not only did it focus on the story, but it didn't bother you with silly things, like seemingly arbitrary numbers representing your character. As the French say, tres cool.

Realizing that there may indeed be substance to their role-playing claims, I quickly banged together a character. If the setting was that of a castle full of honour, intrigue, and such, why not make a character totally unsuited for it? Out came Ferguson.

After spending a while to master the controls, I headed out into the castle. I think it took me roughly half an hour of playing to get hooked. Within a day I was entangled in interesting story-lines, and being forced to expand, improve, and modify my character. By the weekend I was involved in at least two major plots, and a lot of side ones. And as things stand now, even I have no clue how I'm going to develop my character.

To make a long story short (too late), Marrach definitely gets my two humbs up and a whole whack of stamps of approval.....you've all been great to play with so far, and I'm looking forward to whatever happens next.

aka Ferguson

P.S.: No, I don't know what his accent is supposed to be.

P.P.S.: A bit off-topic, but through some strange coincidence, the only other online role-playing game that I played called it's new characters Newly Awakened as well. Weird huh?

Glad you're aboard, Ferguson. My character doesn't care much for you, but you've been a lot of fun to RP with, keep it up.

Hehe, Zero and Ferguson don't always get along perfectly, (remember Dwarf?) but it's fun RPing with you.

*grins* Well luckily for me, I didn't intend for everyone, or even most people, to like Ferguson. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif

That's good, Umbric, because Lucas is starting to really dislike the man... but then, I'm sure you knew that. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/wink.gif

Actually, I was surprised to find out that you were a newcomer - I assumed you were someone's alt. You're doing a really good job with Ferguson. It's nice to have someone to detest for reasons other than them being a complete social misfit and/or insane. Is it just me, or do we have way too many people who've decided they're insane? Maybe it's just a vocal minority. Anyway, keep it up - we always welcome someone who role-plays well, especially considering the number of people we get who just want to know where the swords are.

Believe me Lucas, it's no minority. I've been attacked at least once a day these past few weeks (does Zero have a big target on his chest?) and it seems that most of the players getting on now are kids looking for a different kind of game, who get bored, and start acting nuts because they don't know what else to do. The biggest drawback to this game is that it requires a level of maturity beyond what many gamers are capable of. Then again, that's probably the best thing about this game too. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif Pretty ironic, huh?

First off: Umbric, my character likes yours at least, he's one of the few well-played Newly Awakened I've seen.
Second: Atama... you're hurting my feelings. I completely agree with you that there are WAY too many poorly played characters around these days. On other hand, there a few of us kids who play nicely. I, for one, try to play my character maturely and I'm probably best qualified as a kid. (I know you didn't mean any offense, just wanted to get that off my chest)

When I said "kid", I was talking about kids of all ages... from twelve-year-olds who want to roleplay their favorite Pokemon character (yes, I have met one) to the 35-year old who pouts and acts like a jerk when he doesn't get his way. Rand and Zero have been friends for a long time, and I would not say you play like a "kid" at all, but more like a grown adult.

(Personally, I don't care at all what someone's age is in RL, as long as they play with a reasonable level of maturity.)

I totally agree with Rand. Age has nothing to do with maturity, and personally, I am best qualified as a "kid" as well.
