Okay, trying out Droid Arena for the first time. Looks fun. Any skotos players have their own corp? If not, maybe someone who's played a lot should make one...lets take on the world! :)
There used to be a Skotos run corp called Blackwind Smuggling, but because we didn't have enough Skotos people we all left it. A few of us went to Final Supremacy. You're welcome to join us there if you like. When the next season starts, you can apply to us. I'm cadre by the way if they ask who invited you.

I took a few members into Overkill from BWS.
I am Snowlace. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to chat you in the IRC global chat they link to, or you can gmail me in the game.
The only thing the new players guide doesn't really cover is the OBJECTIVE of the game.
You want to enter "arenas" that are best suited to your level. If you are level 1, you want to avoid arenas that have no cap, or are what we call a Free For All (FFA) arena. Some of us are really mean and at level 20, have no problem bottom feeding off your easy kill to boost our stats. (I don't approve, there is always a bigger fish but it's considered good strategy by many so be aware.)
The goal is to, of course, "win" the arena. You can do this one of two ways. You can "catch" the doll (and hang onto it) or you can kill everyone else in the arena.
Once you know the goal, you begin to understand the importance of keeping up with your equipment and what it can do. From level 1 - 3 just take time to see how the limited amount of RSL commands you have available to use, actually operates your droid. You processor only has a few commands available to process your script. As you level up, you are able to afford better eq, which means more rsl commands become available. You can generate a script by answering preset questions and checking boxes, or if you are in a corporation, you can ask if the corp has a scriptor with anything available for your level.
Psst. You want to be in a corp. The advantages are many. Loner makes the game look intimidating and, in my opinion, because everyone starts out a loner (unless you have a corp connection to get accepted) the game becomes unpalatable, fast.

If I were to start a corp for Skotos players, how much interest would there be in that?
Overkill finished in the top-ten this past season, and while I'm not an expert in RSL... I did finish in the top 15 for the final player week, and in the top 100 for score and wins for the whole season.
If we could get enough people, I'd come back to a skotos corp.

Overkill has a waiting list. I was a leader in OK for DA2.
I don't think Dreamer would mind if I started another corp, simply because we only get 30 slots to fill, instead of the 50 we used to have. If I thought we could have something close to 30 to show interest, I might leave Overkill (on friendly terms, I love those people very much.) to help Skotos players find their feet with this game.

I would like to try this game ^^. If I'm ever able to log in, that is... The learning curve looks pretty steep, especially when you can't even log in successfully -.-
Is it possible to do well without belonging to a corp? How often does someone start a new corp? Does everyone start over from scratch each season or do resources & exp & such carry over?

You start over each season.
You will be unable to login for this new season until Monday. We are literally between seasons at the moment. :)
A corp can be "started" up to the last day.
Going in as a loner is very difficult. In a corp you get to share resources, scripts, and even equipment. The number of stars by a city's name indicates the level of "taxes" collected by your corp if they happen to have "won" that city.
Chicago is a 5 star, so winning that arena would mean your corporation gets ALOT of credits per tick from that city. It goes into the corporations bank. You can then get a Financial Advisor (in the corp) to give you credits if you need them to buy eq. As a loner, if you win, you get no such benefit. The city simply becomes "independent."

Meduseld here. I dropped out of last season a little early due to real-life things, but I'll be back into the grind on Monday, not sure which corp. though..

I'd be game Brassy. :)
My only problems so far are sitting down and working out some scripts. Suggestions, ideas there would be most helpful.
Holler if you get a new corp up.

Seculus,
When generating a script, you can either write one yourself, using the RSL manual, or you answer the questions provided for them to generate a script for you.
I recommend using the script generator they provide, then looking at the script to get an idea of what they could look like. Levels 1 -3 are generally so limited in options that generating scripts in this fashion is perfectly fine and competitive.
They also have an RSL chat channel available to discuss script options as you go. for myself, I'm in a corp with fractic, who generates some very nice scripts. I just use his. There are scripts available for sale through FU's market, one if which was donated by fractic. :)

Good to learn about the script generator, never saw or read anything about it! ARRGGHH!
Oh well...
See you one way or another come next season.
Thanks. :)
