I am aware that Skotos has been having trouble making money of late, but its getting better? Might I make a suggestion... some of us pay for a premium account, not only because we want to help skotos (and keep the games we enjoy around) but because we enjoy the perks asscoiated with them.

Here is an idea that could possibly help Skotos- There used to be a store, where skotos sold things directly, maybe if you offer that store again, but with each purchase you get the real item, and if your a premium subscriber (or even a regular) you get story points as well. This I think would motivate many to spend extra money with skotos, I know I would.

What is an even better idea to me is having the ability to buy story points, it is essentially a donation with an SP gift (seeing as we dont get any real items with this , it might be even more profitable for skotos, as there is virtually no cost to this) Maybe have a cap of how many you can buy a month? I just know that for the benefits I get with StoryPoints in the few games I enjoy, I would like the chance to get more then 50 a month for a premium account, let me help skotos and buy some more, I just would hope it would not be too expensive..

I've suggested this before, and am in support of it.

A donation of 1$ per 1-3 storypoints seems to be something quite doable to me. Put a limit of like 50$ a month, and you can use the cash to help some of the lesser games with problems, such as GR's lag, or any game that might wish more technical help.

As I've said before, Aardwolf one of the most powerfull and strongest free muds out there, does this from time to time. They only allow it when it is needed. But they have gotten some of the best servers and let Lasher(the head admin) work solely on the game.

Some people dislike playing a pay-to-play game because they have certain expectations. I for one, like skotos games emmensely, and its rather dissapointing to me, that a free game beats us so easily.

just my common $0.02

I am disappointed to not have any sort of reply from Shannon or anyone else yet, but I wont give up. It makes perfect sense, they need to make more money, those of us who pay for premium like the perks we get, and some of us might like to spend some money on story-points, though I would say maybe 1 dollar = 5 sp (for premium subscribers) and maybe make it more for regular's , not much though. It will help them generate needed money, and give those of us who want it, what we want. Heck, there is no production cost asscoiated with giving out sp's, it would be pure profit from my point of veiw, and may bring them out of red, and allow them to exsist for a good long time.

We've chatted with some of our partners about this idea, and not everyone is comfortable with it, so we've decided not to go this route for the time being.

The thoughts & ideas are appreciated, however.

I hate to be the one to beat a dead horse. But I am interested in knowing if there were specific reasons given for some of your partners being uncomfortable with the option to purchase storypoints.

Near as I've been able to see it would only help. There are a lot of problems in the Games that could be fixed with the trade of virtual currency for real money.

If I had to guess, I'd say this is exactly the reason. Right now, storypoints are a nice little bonus, that you may or may not get. There are probably different legal issues involved if you "buy" storypoints with real money. It also sets a specific dollar value on storypoints, which could have an implication for when we give out storypoints to staff (i.e. they are now, almost, being paid a specific dollar amount for their work, and are no longer "volunteers")

*shrug*
Just a guess at some of the potential problems making skotos wary of this.
