View Full Version : Serious Complaint

I pay for a Premium account. I get my story points and I get my core privs of extra character slots etc. That's great. I get my.skotos.net, which I love. I get the email, even though I hate the interface, (else I'd use the email more often).

Yet that seems like very little to get while we pay more than double the basic accounts do.

What happened to the blogs we were promised?

What's going to replace the bonus welcome room things, now that the Skotos Welcome Room is gone (And the TEC welcome room works differently?)

Merchandise?

I don't mean to be a pain, but I'm paying money for things I'm not getting. It's leaving me with a bit of a sour taste. If you can't deploy what you've promised, can we have something to make up for it?

I think this is worth bringing back up. There was never an answer offered, and maybe it was because it faded away too quickly for anybody to notice. So if anybody is watching, here is the question/complaint again.

We've been unable to find blog software that would integrate well and I'm happy with. If and when we can, we're definitely going to offer it, because I know Skotos members would love to do blogs.

In the meantime, we've continued to offer adds to my.skotos.net since the original release of Premium, as well as doubling our number of games in that period.

I think that maybe there should be more rewards given for the price diffrence that we pay? I know this is a forum for discussion...I thought I would bring it up.

I only play one game. Give me more rewards there and none in others?

I know it won't happen...

Maybe hire some more GMs for TEC?

Personally, I play CM, and so far I've been relatively happy with the rewards I get there. I figured I'd get that out in the open to begin with. I'm relatively happy with skotos/cm.

Welcome Room: Dead
I don't ply TEC, so it's kind of useless to me if they give TecWelcomeRoom Privs to preiums there. I'd be willing to go in and make the welcome room work if all they need is somebody who wants to see it thrive.

Blogs?
They were promised, and I can understand them being a little late, but after a while, it's kind of too little, too late.

I hardly ever use my.skotos.net since I only play CM, and it's just a nother step for me to open up my.skotos

So seriously, this is an issue that needs attention. If skotos wants to run itself as a stable business, then they should consider offereing something to make up for what we're not getting.

Don't take this as an attack, but rather constructive criticism. I don't have the best reputation at Skotos, because of my viewpoints, but I am a paying Premium subscriber.

Well, I dont have a reputation at Skotos at all. I have had this account and played these games for only a few months now.

I just feel that becasue of the price diffrence we pay there should be more.

I only play TEC, so that's where my concern lies.

I would love to see more GMs hired so that events and new content can be put together.

I would be happy if the ammount of storypoints that we get each month is increased. I only use it to convert to RPs for TEC and would greatly appreciate a bonus.

I hope this doesnt fall on deaf ears.

Im sorry to see the Skotos Welcome Room gone. Why is that? Although I only play TEC, I enjoyed the Skotos WR when I had the occasion to be there. (And I loved my spacesuit costume)

I, too, would like to see 'more bang for my premium buck'...perhaps an increase in Story Points?

Personally, I only play CM ( three years and counting) and have dabbled unsuccessfully in all the other games. My main reason for not getting a Premium account is as a customer. I think my money is better spent on normal account.

Meaning, the customer, albeit just one, did not view any of the premium benefits as worth the extra money.

The blog idea has promise, but other than that, I'm looking for more. I love Skotos and will remain a customer, but until I see more things I would like I will be staying away from premium accounts.

I would really like to see something implimented, even if it's something as simple as upping STPs from 50/month to 75 or 100/month.

For the time being, I think that would be adequate, I think it would allow premium subscribers to have the benefits they's been paying for.

It would obviously make up for the lack of additional skotos features. (blog/welcome room/etc) and would give those who play only one game the ability to focus on that game, and in turn, better the community as a whole

my $0.02

I must agree. We are paying more than twice that of normal accounts, and we aren't getting half of the things we were promised. It sucks, and though I know it isn't the intention of Skotos to break its promises and screw us over, we signed up for premium accounts because of the things promised.

So either find replacements, or compensate, because we are really being short changed.

The main advantage of the premium accounts have always been the Story Points & the extra character slots. (As well as supporting Skotos.)

We are going to introduce the blogs if we can come up with a good system. For the present that's our only planned addition.

I think what people are saying, especially the Castle Marrach people, is that there really is no benefit to them /having/ a premium account, unlike some of the other games. And thats fine, if that's keeping y'all in the black. I think what they are telling you is that they would be more then happy to spend the additional..what is? 18 dollars? A month if there was more incentive, more storypoints, something. If y'all don't plan on it, thats cool, we were all just under the impression that the more money we pay, the happier you are :P So basically guessing Marrach has 100 paying players (I know, a bit high) and the percentage of /consistent/ premium players is lower then say people who play mostly TEC or GR, Skotos is losing anywhere from 700-1000 dollars a month, and I dunno about you, but thats enough for a few kegs of beer for the home office there..

I mean, obviously up to you. I think they had a valid comment regarding that if your main game is Castle Marrach, to pay extra is just not worth it. Take it as a helpful comment, or throw it in the blender ;) Just the peanut gallery.

-nods- If all I am getting is story points and extra char slots, then I am definately downgrading next pay cycle.

If you look at the premium benefits thread, Shannon, you might see why were were under 'different impressions'.

Things are in the work for Prem users on CM, which is IG related.

Which is good for those who play CM. What about those who don't?

I'm not trying to be snarky, but it is a lot of money and there is a long list of things we were promised and we're now being told to settle for less.

To be clear, it's a long list, almost all of which have been delivered.

We have had to pull back the Welcome Room, but that's unfortunately the sort of thing that some times happens in the evolution of a site.

The only outstanding issue is the blogs, which unfortunately have not been as easy as we'd hoped, and because of the increased work required have taken a back seat to keeping the site running and trying to reach profitability. We're still looking into them, however.

But, yes, if you're not happy with the current benefits, you should definitely downgrade. We've generally found that the best appreciated benefits are the SPs and the extra character slots, but it sounds like that's not important enough for you.

I would like an explaination as to WHY the Skotos WR is no more. I truly enjoyed it, it was a fun place to 'hang out'.

I have a premium account, and play TEC almost exclusively. I appreciate the story points (which I convert to RP) the rp bonus and the ability to play PNPCs (I have an urchin I am quite fond of)....However....the benefits are not as much as I'd like, I'd like to see an increase in the Story points per month.

i think most of the complaints here are feble and repeatative. i use to be a premium and one day will go back to it (due to money reason) there are a lot of games and a lot of options for those games through either benfits or sp benfits just by being a premy. So i think all your problems are sorta silly and not really a problem. But i do have a small question are you going to work something out with Droid Arena in regards to premium benfits? With the none regenerative AP (arena points: required to partipate in matches) and it would be interesting to see what will happen if a skotos player runs out and would like to get more. Possibly anything else you can get :P. This isn't a complaint just a question. Something along these lines would definately motivate me back to premium status again but ill probably do that anyways :P. thank you for your time ShannonA you have always done good as far as i'm concerned :D

We've talked some with DA on and off about premium benefits. For a while premium players had access to a special shard.

I'd like to work something new out with them, as time allows.

Its been five and a half years now. I don't think your looking very hard.

Tell me what your requirments are and I'll find it for you. If not, then I'll code you one. I could certainly come up with something given almost 6 years to fiddle with it.

We're looking for single-site blogging software that can handle multiple users in distinct blogs and which don't have onerous per-user licensing fees.

Of the two software packages we tried, one licensed based on an expensive, per-user, yearly fee, and the other was open source, but only supported multiple users in a single blog unless you rolled out multiple instances of the software.

We've played with the latter a little bit (typepad?), but ultimately we've had to expend resources on other things.

That was posted last year... In March.

I'd really like to see this happen.

And if it has happened, why hasn't anyone told me?

Take a look at these.

http://www.spip.net/en

http://www.blosxom.com/

If those are not accceptable, give me details as to why and I'll either tweak it or look for something more to your specifications.

I've bookmarked them and will take a look as soon as I finish with my current project, in a week or two.

Thanks!
