In an attempt to serve TEC's community better, we are making a significant change to the way the proclaim command works. Players will generally no longer be able to initiate proclaimed exchanges with the staff. Instead, we ask that you rely as much as possible on the @report, @request and @feedback commands, as appropriate. In case of genuine -emergencies- (meaning your gameplay is being disrupted significantly by a bug or other serious issue, and GM intervention is needed), you may prefix your proclaimed message with a "!" character to over-ride the proclaim block or you may use the GM Duty Desk bell to get a staff member's attention. We will be evaulating the "!" over-ride option -- if it is mis-used, it may be removed in favor of solely relying on the GM Duty Desk bell.

GMs will still be able to initiate proclaimed exchanges with players. When a GM proclaims to you, you will be able to respond using the proclaim command for a short duration after the initial contact. Also, when a GM is "on duty" (as listed on the 'who' command) we will make the proclaim command generally functional for questions and non-emergency issues.

We appreciate the fundamental change this means for our community, in terms of general communication and chat with the staff. However, we believe that this will allow the staff to spend its time more productively in getting new systems finished and bugs and other issues addressed in a timely manner. We appreciate your cooperation and support in this matter.

Example: proclaim ! Help! A bug isn't allowing me to retreat and I'm about to die a nasty death at the hands of a bunny!
