Ash: the silvery-gray color

Russet: reddish-brown or brownish

Ochre: colored by iron oxide, usually yellow or reddish brown

Sepia: a dark-brown

Ebony: like ebony; dark or black

Sable: the color black: indicated in engraving by crosshatching to produce a dark shading (that would be for Heraldry... but black shaded would work too for clothing).

Puce: brownish purple

Amber: A bright yellow... sometimes orangish-yellow (tho the orange is not as noticeable).

Canary: a light yellow (think Tweety from Looney Tunes)

Cinnamon: Just take a look at cinnamon sticks or powder.

Teal: greenish-blue... but the green is hardly noticeable (www.sjsharks.com *grin*)

Saffron: Orangish-yellow (and the orange is noticeable)

Cyan: Very light blue (like ash is a very light grey).

Chartreuse: Pale, yellowish-green

Vermilion: a bright red

Lilac: a light purple

Orchid: similar to lilac but a bit lighter

Indigo... HAHAHA... I found my chemistry notes from 3 years ago... C16H10N2O2! A violet blue...

Cobalt: a slightly dark blue

Azure: sky blue (sorry Carmen, about the only one I have to disagree on. hehe)

Cerulean: like azure blue, but a bit deeper (see Carmen's pic for that...)

fyi, I'm happy to change the page I made for the seamstress's, if they want me to. just send me email, PM, etc.

I was just trying to fill a niche

Min's player
(who is trying not to be defensive, and failing :o )

A Colors page (http://www.homestead.com/mintle/colors.html)

Laurel,

The above is just Carmen's opinion, followed by Stix's opinion... You know the thing with opinions, everybody's got one, and everybody's right about theirs, as long as it's based on more than hot air.

So bah.

You did a great job, even though I -of course- disagree with some of the picks for colours myself, and I bet that if I had picked the colours, someone else would disagree with them... Nevertheless, your page serves as a concise and readily available resource I wouldn't miss out on.

Have a nice day.
