Writing a Tome

What is a Tome? A Tome is a book that can teach the reader a skill of some sort. We want to add more of these books to the game, but we need your help to do it!

Writing each tome is a rather involved process, and our players can help take the workload off the StoryBuilders by making their own! Obviously you’ll first need something to write about. You’ll get to decide what skill this tome might grant to the reader upon finishing it, what language it’s written in, and even if there are dreams associated with it!

Normally these tomes have to be made by our StoryBuilders, and involve various code to make them work. Of course, we understand that not everyone is a coder or a builder, but still would like to create them. So creating a tome has been made even more simple. StoryHost Willow has devised a template that you can use to make them. You download and save the text file, just fill in the indicated sections, save it, and then email it off.
Now, we’d like you to make the tomes just to help out the game and add to the world some… however, as an added perk, we’re granting StoryPoints for these tomes. Each tome created makes you eligible for up to 25 StoryPoints!

Here’s how to start:
1. Copy the Tome Template (found in these forums) and paste it in a text document.
2. Fill in the information indicated in the file.
3. Save your file.
4. Email it to StoryHost Willow for approval: willow 'at' lovecraftcountry 'dot' com

The above was taken from the old website (which has been lost for some time). We're still accepting tomes and still offering storypoints for every used submission.

There have been complaints in the past about the length of time it takes to submit a tome and see it in game and we haven taken steps to speed up this process. With StoryBuilder Yig in control of the building of tomes, and the implementation of a @restore command (which allows trusted volunteers to build their tomes on the spot), we hope to see more tomes enter the shelves of Orne Library at a faster rate!
