I've sent in a request for new colors and fabrics in Jericho and Jermina's store. New colors/fabrics would make it harder for people to get what they want, but current colors (except for certain items) are pretty sparse. I wanted to know what other players felt about this.
Oliver White responded:
I guess it depends on how many. I know Oliver had some linen shirts, I went to the store to buy some more, and Jericho wasn't selling them, so I filed an assist saying he was busted. Turns out he's never sold linen and I got them from a staff clothing night thing... But given that the then current list of materials was cotton and silk, it didn't add too much when staff added linen to the mix. It increased from 15*2*6 = 180 possible combinations, to 15*3*6 = 270 combinations. Which depending on whether you care about the details that aren't shown in the brief is either an ungodly amount of choice or not too bad.
Too many choices makes shopping an absolute pain. (Just try to get a small, white, fuzzy kitten from the toy store and see how long that takes you. I gave up after about 5 or so hours of trying to get one.)
But I don't know. Oliver's wardrobe is mostly complete unless staff decide to add something wild that I must buy. If shopping were made easier, I'd be all over the idea. Or perhaps if there was a way IG to alter the color automatically -- Jermina dyes clothes on the side and will dye any item any color (as long as it's black-- er, on the approved list of colors) for some nominal price.
Demitri Esquire responded:
How about instead of having to go through all that to get what we want we can specifcally request what color and fabric we want and they'll sell it to us? You know, like real stores.
There were some general responses about crazy-good suggestions...
Clover responded with:
I only suggested a few colors for male clothes, and none to shirts since they have so many. Coal black, charcoal, midnight blue, slate blue, oak brown, khaki, hunter green, iron grey, terra cotta, bone white, sandstone yellow. I don't really know what colors guys like but these sounded masculine for sweaters and slacks and things.
I suggested more for women's clothes but I'm not sure how the staff feels about that. They did promise to add some. Black, white, green, blue and red just do not cover it for us girls. :)
Staff's Response is...
We'd love to be able to re-code things to allow for player input of color/fabric/condition choice. This was looked at years ago, but unfortunately the system that we currently utilize doesn't allow for such input or fixed choices. TEC's code is radically different enough to be unshareable. So, unless we misunderstand you, this remains on a someday-nice-to-have list while we work on more important story/plot tools and game content for you. We won't forget the request, but it's just tabled unless a Skotos-wide change comes along that allows us to implement this without having to to some in-depth rewriting of our own code. In the meantime, instead of taking hours to get the exact item, just get an item and put in an assist for the color/material/condition (or the type of pet, etc) that you really want.

I have no problem filling requests for clothing to make it exactly what you want, so do feel free to file assists.
Personally my only request is that you not get impatient if it takes me awhile to get to it - especially whole outfits/multiple requests. Alterations are simple, but quickly get real tedious when there are alot of garments. And I may be working on other requests that have been pending longer.
Tell me if this is unreasonable, but I think averages of one request a month probably ought to keep you pretty spiffy? And not drive me insane :p
PS: Despite the hard times, Jermina has scrounged up a supply of silk and satin to satisfy all these rich kids at MU, and added it to a large portion of her available garments. As well as new dyes for blouses, skirts, and every day dresses - including purple, lilac, navy, skyblue, forest, pale-green, dark-red, pink, and goldenrod
Have fun rummaging through that!
Colorful shoes and mens clothes will be on their way... someday >.>
PPS: Jericho is selling vests. Colorful, fabric-iful vests.

I never wanted to be a pain! One request a month is wonderful.

*hugs* Thanks to the staff for adding a few new colors/fabrics to the women's selection to make buying clothes more fun.
