Page 12 of the Castle Marrack Tutorial misspelled "wandering" as "wandierng".

Hey, I said it was a little glitch.

Thanks for catching that Jeff. It's corrected now. Please let us know if you find any others. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif

When creating my character, instead of asking for a second memory, it said, "pull down menu 9' or something like that.

Mike, if you give me your character name [I'm sure we have it on file, but it's easier just to have from you] I can give your character a memory. Then I believe if you use the "RECALL" command, the game should give you your memories [that works for everyone]. BTW, I've got that bug fixed I believe. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/rolleyes.gif

I think the parser is sometimes too smart for its own good.

I used 'sit near <Name>' to sit by someone. Later I used 'stand' and the response was 'You move away from <Name>', which was not really my intent.

Some simple poses should not change your proximity at all, I would think.

Another thing that happens is when I 'say "That is great! What will you do now?"' or something like that. The parser might change it to 'You exclaim...' or 'You ask...' automatically, but will not necessarily keep the action I chose (e.g. 'say'). It's a mixed blessing. Most of the time it's fine, but sometimes I want to just 'say'.

Another bug, or just strange occurance.

Spider webs.

Many people can't seem to pick them up, the error being that they're too large for our frontal inventory or some such. But others can. Its making the Castle hard to keep clean.

Lisa,

I tried to reply via e-mail, but was unable to. My character's name is Albuterol and I was trying to make him a scholar or mage or something to that extent. I haven't been able to actually play the game yet.

I wasn't sure where to log this, but it seems like a "little glitch" to me, so...

All last week, when playing my character, Gideon, I was able to type the command "stroke my chin", and get the response "You stroke your long jaw." This had become a bit of a character quirk...

Trying it today, however, earned me the response "I don't understand the word 'chin.'" Same with "jaw."

The bug command can always be used for this type of thing:

bug "My character used to have a chin, but it disappeared yesterday"

One of our game developers went in today and added chins back. They somehow went missing when we added elbows and knees the other day.

When visiting the Seamstress for the first time ever, I asked for a cloak (after asking for, and getting, several other kinds of garments), and got an "amber brocaded gown," which was quite nice but not what I had in mind http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif

Same here, I asked the seamstress for a cloak (hoping to get a black one for a newbie) and got a black gown. Just in case, I asked for a gown in case I would get a cloak, and I still got a gown. Lazy seamstress...

Oh. Yes... the seamstress has been shown the error of her ways. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/wink.gif She shall now provide you with [approximately] what you ask for.

A few things:
First, about the clothings. How come I can't ask for a certain gown? If I ask the seamstress for a blue gown, it says (something like) you can't do that 'for' something. By the way, I really like the 'look at gowns' (plural) feature. Maybe I just didn't know about it because I didn't know I could do that, but it is a great improvement to "What do you mean, your blue gown, a grey . . . ?" etc. But, I've found, that it still doesn't show my all the clothes I asked for. I was at the Seamstress' a day or so ago, and looked at skirts (another great addition), and saw, two. A rust one and a rose-colored one. I asked the seamstress for a skirt, and she gave me an olive skirt. So why didn't I see it in the first place?
Another thing, maybe a bit more than a "little glitch", but, I'm here. I logged this in-game, and I had thought I posted it somewhere in this general area, but I can't recall where. Anyway, I am unable to kiss or touch a specific body part. When I type "kiss So-and-so's cheek", it gets logged, written on the screen as a command, but not as an action. Likewise, when I try to touch So-and-so's arm, I find that I see no So-and-so. I know others can do it, so why can't I?

And, while I'm here, some general questions: Where are these people getting baskets? Where can I get a drink? (And I've seen people with a drink, too.) Umm, no more right now.

Thanx for reading my mindless rants. Perhaps I'll go post some praise on that other post. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/smile.gif

You can only ask for a generic peice of clothing, and get a random color.

Because the seamstress made it for you. The difference between new items, and items lying on the ground

Not sure here. The syntax is:

touch martel's head

that should work. No adverbs with touch though. If you find me, I can try to show you.

Baskets appear sometimes, and people snarf them. Just just keep looking. Also, Zia can provide pouches sometimes.

As to drinks, people get one and sip it (which doesn't consume it I think). If you drink a drink, it goes away. But they are not all that common, so you have to find one and hord it.

I agree with you Kimberly, this is a common problem (people not being able to use emotes on others' body parts) and it's almost always a capitalization issue. I wonder how hard it would be to allow a capitalized or non-capitalized version of the name so that we don't have to tell people the same advice over and over? I think requiring all lower case is kind of non-intuitive, people are used to capitalizing names.

And to Seidl... I like to gulp down drinks and watch the glasses break into shards or melt or whatever happens. That's all the fun. http://www.skotos.net/ubb/wink.gif

The key here is not capitalizing the name of the person. Whenever typing a command, leave out all capitalization and you'll avoid much grief.

the best advice I give those to the new game is do not capitalize any part of the Commands. When you see a new player having problems, let them know this is a key thing with the commands, although I do believe the game tells you 'I didn't understand that command because parts of it were in upper case. Try again using only lower case.'

Remind new players to check the online tutorial, download the handbook and have them drop by Tara's Newly Awakened page (http://newlyawakened.tripod.com/).

All these points are excellent sources of information. Also point out when the staff is online and when the story plots are on. I am sure this will either do one of two things. Either they will come back and play in the evenings, or realize that the game just is not what they are looking for. Personally I hope they will return! Even morning and afternoon roleplaying has been great lately! http://www.skotos.net/ubb/cool.gif

Actually, I've only seen the "do not capitalize" reply once, and that was when I capitalized the first word : "Ask seamstress . . . " or something.

By the way, I tried it, and it was awesome. I was able to look at people's eyes (I didn't try the touch and stuff, cuz I didn't know anyone well enough, and that could've been bad), and I was chillin'! Thanx! I'm happy now.
