View Full Version : When Do Plots Occur?

A question posed by Ironbeard...
Is there a particular time of day when plot events are more likely to happen?

Thomas King responded:
Not really. They are more likely to happen if there is a greater amount of people online. But even that isn't a surefire bet. Sometimes the staff throw something out when there are only a couple people running around. To give more of that 'we are alone and in trouble' feeling.

The reason crazy things are not scheduled and announced in advance is because lets say we all know that a giant walrus is going to attack at nine pm tonight. (Fear the walrus!) Everyone would go online an hour before and have any weapons they have ready, then they would go sit at the cafe waiting for things to happen. The reactions would be thought out in advance and everyone would be ready for them. It wouldn't flow naturally and it wouldn't be scary in any way.

The way things are now, maybe said walrus comes just as we all leave the pool and have none of our walrus hunting gear with us, and we have to scramble to come up with something.

It can be frustrating to find out you played all week and not a thing happened, then when you logged on yesterday, you missed something crazy by ten minutes, but it is far better for the game as a whole to not know when anything will happen. After all, Arkham is chaos.

Oliver White responded:
Weapons? For the giant walrus? Please. Just run to a storage room and grab a bucket. That's all he wants anyway...

But, generally many of the plot events recently have been in the evening / early night ET. (Many of our staff are US, and work's over around then.) At least I think they have been. But as King said, they can be anytime.

Thomas King then posted a picture of a walrus and his bucket which, if we ask him kindly perhaps he will repost here.

Willow's response:
Staff-run action will occur most likely during that person's regular playing time. Currently all but one of our staff are based in the US, the odd-man-out, Yig, is in Australia.

If a player feels so inclined to do their own thing, you are free to do so anytime that is convenient for you.

Staff are available by request to assist with things if you need us at odd times (times when we're normally not on) at our own discretion as to 'if I stay up till 3 am playing LC can I make it to work the next day' sorta thing.

So if you need something to happen and you don't have any idea how to do that yourself, just do an @assist and we can all put our heads together to figure it out.
