Dear dwellers,
Those of you who run Internet Explorer on Windows may be glad to hear that we've started taking better advantage of the capabilities of our 'Alice' client.
Specifically, you can now have your Castle served in glorious colour. In-game, try 'profile' and explore the command. This is where you can select a new colour theme -- e.g. the garish 'profile theme zellian', the rather attractive 'profile theme kargh'. And so on.
A second effect of having a theme selected is that you get a new version of the client page -- the part with the castle graphics, the map fragment, etc. While the design will probably change, we've started experimenting here with attempts at certain newbie-friendly features. To wit, there are pull-down menus where you can execute simple socials, look at the people and objects around you and in your inventory, and go in different directions.
Also, the map is overlain with little arrows which light up in the directions you can currently go. Clicking on the arrows will take you in the right direction.
Most of you are unlikely to use most of these features, excepting perhaps the arrows (which are convenient). However, we have some hopes that this will lower the intimidation factor for all those intelligent and interesting would-be players who simple haven't been exposed to enough quick-scrolling text in their days to find their initial Marrach experience entirely pleasant.
I'd love it if you fellows would try this new stuff out and report any major screw-ups. After choosing a profile, quit out of the game, refresh the portal page (with the big castle), and click on your body again. You'll be served the new client.
Note that theme choices are unique to each character.
