I had a few questions about this game I seem to have gotten myself addicted too<sigh>. If anyone could answer them, it would help a lot.

1.What are guilds? Will my choice of job affect what guild I can be a member of?
2.Can I learn skills or professions?
3.Any recmmendations for a peasent that spent some time as a footman?
4. Is there a search command?
5.<for staff> Can I use paypal to pay for this service?

I'll give ya my answers as best as possible, though I'm sure others will provide good and better ones ;)

1.What are guilds? Will my choice of job affect what guild I can be a member of?

Guilds are jobs, so to speak, to keep yourself busy in the castle and better help others. For example, the Awakeners is a position that better trains you to help other newly awakened, like yourself, become better aquainted with the castle. The Winter Watch are soldiers who serve the Queen in protecting those who inhabit the Outer Bailey from unlawful acts, and so on and so forth. Ask in game about this information, so that your character will know too. And you'll possibly get more information about various ones personally. I don't know what you mean by "Will my choice of job affect what guild I can be a member of?" unless you mean will each guild affect others.. in some cases that is true, as in you can't join the Duelists if you are a Watch and vice versa, and various other slight ones.

2.Can I learn skills or professions?

Of course! You can learn languages from various teachers, dueling techniques, and other skills according to various guilds as well. Once again, ask this In Character (IC) as well.

3.Any recmmendations for a peasent that spent some time as a footman?

A footman? If ya mean soldier, try joining a dueling guild, like the Duelists, Battlers, or Watchman.

4. Is there a search command?

Sorta. Examine shows a room in a bit more detail, but examining people or their items is considered rude. Be careful about that.. ask permission first IC. If you mean searching for people online, type "who" and it'll list who's online. But remember, this is a game, and you can't just say "Oh look, Dolph's online" in character ;) But I'm sure ya knew that.

5.<for staff> Can I use paypal to pay for this service?

I'm not staff ;) BUT I haven't personalyl seen a paypal choice for payment. Would be a good suggestion though!

I hope I was of some help! :) Enjoy all that is addictive in Marrach!

The payment methods I know of are credit cards or (if you live in the USA) you can send them a cheque.
But if you know someone who plays (and pays) for the game IRL you could ask them nicely to pay for an account for you if you give them the money.

Concerning your question about billing, I'd advise you to go there.

Questions 1, 2 & 3 can and should be answered in character...

Part of the fun of the game is getting to know people and asking questions to find out what you want to know. I am sure if you ask around in the game, you can find the answers you seek.

Yeah... you should ask this stuff IC. Josey would tell you all about this stuff (except the billing of course....)

But, most importantly.... READ THE PLAYERS GUIDE! This is a must! I think this should be required! Maybe a little quiz you have to pass.

I mean.... wouldn't you attemp to play a tabletop rpg like D&D or Exalted without reading the core rule books, right?

Have fun!

I think I have a hunch where DarkBaka's coming from.

You see, as Marrach doesn't have an experience system, you need to find another player to teach you skills. Some skills are rather freely available (dueling and language skills with a few restriction on the more rare subskills or at higher levels), while others are mainly spread through or even controlled by guilds and groups in the castle.

The term 'guild' is actually used much closer to its original usage here than in other games, describing a group of people all practicing the same trade (but is also often used to define groups that render a service like the Awakeners or the Watch or communities like the Seekers or Sorcerers).

The skills available to you will obviously be influenced by whom you can get as a teacher which is in turn derived (at least in part) from your guild affiliations.

Have a nice day.

You'd think people would know the rules to D&D before sitting down... You'd really think that.
