View Full Version : You Have Been Assimilated!
I am wondering how all the players of SE feel mixing into the Skotos community. Do you plan to check out the other games? Also, I'm wondering if there was some sort of diplomacy chat before SE came to Skotos? If not, do you think it will had a distinct quality to the game?
I'm also wondering what Skotos' mindset is on this game. Basically, I've seen two games adopted into the community (TEC and now SE). I imagine it helps both the Skotos community as a whole and the games they adopt (I know I've tried TEC and am now on the waiting list to begin a game of Hegemony).
What are you thoughts, folks?

It's not impossible that I'll try out the other games, but it's quite unlikely. I'm much more interested in strategy games, and Hegemony is one of the purest strategy games I've ever played.
Yes, there was a lot of diplomacy in the game before it came to Skotos. Though I think you might be quite surprised what some players consider counts as 'diplomacy' ;)
From the sound of it, the 'Abode' thingy should be rather a cool addition to the game.

If I get the payment thingy allright, I will be seen at Skotos more often, but only for SE. Unfortunatly, the price per game has become higher, so that I maybe have to concentrate my SE on certain month..
I think I will stick to Richard's Postcard site for some time. Steve should update his Rogue gallery soon, or no one will have an idea who is the player he is playing with.
When it comes to feelings, I rather stick to this sentence - the quality of gameplay is inverse proportional to the number of player - with the player base increasing strongly some changes to the style of gameplay may happen. While the game itself does not undergo heavy changes in its structure, the community may change the character of the game. I do not know the skotos community, but after all it is a community of paying players, adults, and I think this is the best if it comes to a wider user of the old space empires engine.

diplomacy is the key to the game, at least in the regular games at
the original SE site,
in the freebies, depending on the luck of your home system placement, a player could do a "lone wolf" game and be successful quite often.
with the difference in price structure (SE regular games were $5 each) no shows may be more common at skotos at some point...only lately did i ever play in a reg game with no shows
in freebies i counted on no shows because i rarely do the diplomacy there.
the game had such a dependence on diplomacy and resource management that i let my 9th grade physical sci class play...they voted on moves, diplomacy, etc...it was a lot of fun and i may do it again at skotos.

I will certainly give the other games a look. I'm not sure if there's room in my schedule for more than one game, but the role-playing thing does sound intriguing.

Yes, I see there is a messaging system. But I'm actually putting emphasis on the chat theatre which is being setup. Basically, do you think the theatre will be a good addition to the game?
