Abort?

Still learning the commands, I made a grievous dispatch error and attempted to abort it by clicking on the abort shortcut next to the order. It says it was aborted yet the ships are still on their way (though the time to arrive changed to what it would be if I had only just sent them). Is this an error? or is this what happens when you abort - they just restart their progress?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I had this problem before and it took me a bit to figure out.

If you have standing orders on that star system and abort the fleets moving away from it, they'll just follow the standing orders and keep being sent out everytime you abort, so just remove the order for ships to move on from that system.

Thanks, Thoras. It was too late for me to do anything about my screw-up (hopefully its not too big of one) but it'll help me prevent the same type of catastrophe from occurring in the future.
