  • A little step for the tomboy and a big leap for the Poptart.

(*glances at the subject and grumbles* See Atama, your insanity is starting to mentally trouble me... )

Greetings fellow Marrachians, adopted family, mortal enemies, et cetera.

You've probably all seen Carmen's post a few days ago... Well, I'm posting something similar now... I too will be absent from the game for a week or two; I'm moving out of town because of college (yay!) and I'm guessing I'll need a couple of days to get adjusted to my new surroundings, to college life in general and stuff.

I know many of you told me I'll probably have more free time than I used to in high school. It might be true. Well, no matter what, I am still unsure how much my gaming time will be affected. It all depends on the opening hours of the computer labs, especially since that might be the only place for me to get free internet access. In other words, I am not leaving the game (well, hopefully, I won't have to), but I might not be there as often as I used to.

One thing is for sure, I'm going to miss a big bunch of you. Don't hesitate to send me PMs or emails or scrolls in game if you have questions, or only if you want to say hi. I'll try answering as soon as possible. For those who had to speak to Umi (including meetings, plots Umi is taking part in, practices, etc.), I am sorry I will not be as much available as I wished I was... I don't really have an IC reason either... But you know the rule in CM; real life comes first.

So until my return, have fun in your roleplaying and don't spread too many rumors about my little sword-wielding maniac's disappearance (*looks pointedly at Atama* No saying she's got abducted by little green men from Uranus or something like that, ok?)... she'll most likely get pissed at you if you do.

    See you soon!
    Big hugs,
    Gaby

    Well..

Well, if Umi asks nicely, there maybe allowances made for the phone line.
As for geting a new one, it depens. Usually a phone box has two leads, and one of those leads is in use as the main line while the other is inert--that is depending on the type of box and how old the system is.
I scored a winner, a rarity for me, when my Mom had a phone line put in for her computer--it had a second, unused, lead which cost me only $65 to activate (a one time fee) and $20 a month to use.
And when I tried to move out back in April, Atama, I roomed at a friends (staying in his sisters room until she came back) for $80 a week. And yes, the matter of the phone line did come up. But luckily he had a cable set up for his computer, so I played with it.

Then, add the fact that if I go to classes, get a part time job, and do my homeworks, I probably won't even have enough time to sleep, not to mention not being able to go online at all.

And what do you mean an igloo? It's Myrth who lives in Alaska, not I.

Darren, I dunno if you've ever rented a room at someone else's house before, but wanting to get them to make alterations to their home in order to accomodate you is kinda hard.

Plus, installing a new line and paying for it each month is really expensive. Plus, I dunno how hard it is to install a phone line into an igloo.

    Question

    Umi,

Is there a way of getting a second phone line into the room?

    Darren

    p.s.

Never bet on anything in College. You will be doing essays in Art Class, you may also be doing a PowerPoint Presentation in Art Class (as I had to in Graphic Communications, and several of my classmates in that class did their presentations on Artists).
And then there's the essay's for English Class, Geography Class, and any other class you haft to take besides your major.
I'm sorry, but that's how it is.

Huh, Jay, I have a computer home. I could bring it here if I wanted too, but my room is very small and I don't want to bring my good old compy until I really need to (and since I'm an art student and that we do not type much essays, I probably won't need it).

The problem is that I rent a room, and I'm not sure the people where I live would appreciate little me taking THEIR phone line for MY internet access...

Oh well, we'll see... I'm not officially leaving the game, so there's no way to panic... yet... right???

    This is what you do

    Umichan,

What you haft to do is this,

1st. Find a job, part-time is fine full time is better. The reason why is in the 2nd reason.

2nd. Check out the University Bookstore for computers that they have had in the storehouse for more than 6 months. You see Umi, they can't sit on that stuff for too long--so they sell it at a 40% to 60% loss just to get rid of it.
Infact, that's how I got my Mac laptop. Even more funny about it was the fact that they cut me a deal ( $100 off just because we saw you looking at it. It was selling for $599, with complete Internet capability) just to get rid of it. And it works just fine for what I do with it.

3rd. Check the phone company or phone services for a Unlimited Flat-Rate service. It's what I have with Pac Bell, $20 a month is a breeze.

4th. Notify your Dorm Manager what you are doing, they should be able to cut you some slack in this matter--especially if you are paying for it.

You see Umi, the University life isn't all skittles and beer.
It's a suttle education in responcibility that goes far beyond the classroom. Much like Marrach, you will be living in a small community, interacting woth a great many people and juggling time--not like Marrach, you'll haft to pay your own way either then or later (if you've taken a student loan).
    Good luck.

    BOO!!!

*sniffles* Okay, I hate the school computer labs... I can't seem to be able to run the Alice client, and I can't use Netscape either because they use the sucky version 6.0 and it's not working. *sobs* So, hum... don't know for sure when I'll be back in the game, but I'll still be roaming around the boards for a while and try to find a solution. I do hope I'll be back or I'm going to depress...

Will check for internet cafes or something after my class. Meanwhile, I hug you all.

    A very disappointed poptart,
    Gaby

*smiles sweetly at Robert's player* Am I getting paid for that? Remember, I'm a poor student. And what do you mean PLAYED an Awakener? My character is still an Awakener (Well, I hope).

    While you are there....

Just so you know Gaby, we are relying on you to find new add...er, PLAYERS for the game. Just go to your computer lab on campus and start playing. Let people look over your shoulder and ask you newbie questions. You played an Awakener, shouldn't be too difficult to answer them. Then encourage them to log in and play.

If you do that long enough, the System Administator might become addic...er, EAGER to play and will keep the labs open for longer.

Thanks you guys! I love you all! *huggles everybody*

Well, as you can see, I was able to get a computer during lunch break so I could check my emails and the forums. I cannot say when I'll be back for sure though... (Hehehe... Well, got a class until 4 pm, then the 2nd and 3rd years people are 'kidnapping' the newbies (me included) for our initiation at 4:30 pm) But I'm still around and reading the forums (when I can).

And Lobo, you are starting to scare me, you know that??? lol

    HUGS!!!
