  • [Army Notice] Resource Collection for Master Orson

    Castle Denizens,

    Be advised, a crate has been placed at the Militia Command Post, presently located beneath the Green-Bronze Arch at the base of the Grand Bridge. This crate is purposed for the collection of resources and reagents required by the Royal Alchemist Master Orson, in order to create the various Alchemical products the Realm has asked of him for the war effort.

    Presently the following materials only should be stored in the crate:

    * Granite
    * Ley Dust
    * Copper
    * Dragon's Bloom (plant)
    * Malachite gemstone
    * Redoak sapling

    The above listed resources are being placed towards the creation of Lightning Rods and Air Dissolvant Elixers for the war effort and in particular, to aid with weathering the current storm.

    In Duty and Honour,

    Sir Alrik
    Lord Marshal of Castle Marrach

    ** a somewhat soot-stained scroll has been smoothed below **

    Gentle denizens of Castle Marrach,

    The materials my current project are as follows:

    --------------------------

    ~ Lightning Rod ~

    These contraptions can absorb lightning strikes in the rooms in which they are erected, and redirect the energy into an earth aspected grounding container.

    1. Copper in large quantity to make two components, I will probably need about sixty ores of copper to make the following:
    - One copper rod
    - One copper mesh wire
    2. Wooden crate, barrel, or other large non-conductive container
    3. Earth enough to fill the crate (probably about 40 handfuls)
    4. Four ounces of Earth Primer*

    --------------------------

    ~ Air Dissolvent ~

    This is an elixer that can dispell air aspected Alchemical or elemental effects on an individual. In particular, Megaera's markings. It may also give them temporary resistance to air based magic - not a Prime's marking directly, but perhaps some of its other abilities and magic attacks.

    1. A cup of natural salt water (not just a cup of water with salt poured in)
    2. One malachite gemstone
    3. One ounce of earth primer*
    4. One dragon's bloom
    5. One redoak sapling

    --------------------------

    ~ Earth Primer ~

    This is a base Alchemy reagent used in countless Alchemical, earth based recipes.

    One ounce of earth primer requires:
    1. three handfuls of ley dust
    2. one handful of earth or soil
    3. a roughly palm sized chunk of rock (granite)
    4. one pinch of limestone

    --------------------------

    Certain ingredients are known to be found in the following locations:

    - Granite rock: Almost any mining deposit on or within the mountain
    - Copper: Veins of copper can be found both in the caves beneath the castle and outside of it
    - Malachite: This is a green gemstone that can sometimes be found in mineral deposits
    - Ley Dust: Any sorcerer with the proper spell can obtain this from standard (blue) ley tears, there is at least one in the Under Bailey and one by the cairn stones outside the Mountain Village
    - Dragon's Bloom: This is a flower that is known to grow in places where Dragons have nested or lingered
    - Redoak Saplings: The sapling of a redoak tree, some of these trees grow in the forest outside the Mountain Village

    Other things you might have to look about for or get creative. I'm not sure where all these things might be found naturally anymore.

                  Castle Denizens,

                  The Army will be escorting a foraging party for copper harvesting this afternoon the 20th at 3 late bells. Interested parties should show up at the Militia Command Post beneath the Green-Bronze Arch by 2.45 late bells for briefing and preparation, dressed warmly and martially and with a pickaxe and satchel if you possess them.

                    Might it be possible to use all the spears we have collected from destroyed automatons for our lightning rods? These are made of solid metal and may very well be conductive. It would also require less copper ore were we to plate them rather than use solid copper rods. I myself am aware of close to seventy of these spears laying about unused, and there surely must be far more.

                        ~ Mist Dispersion Stones ~

                        1 pinch of saltpeter
                        1 ounce of earth primer (see recipe above in this post)
                        1 chunk of obsidian
                        1 handful of moss

                        Master Orson will be in touch with Sir Alrik to see that these items can be collected via the crates already in place on the western end of the Bridge. Please see they are donated there when you are able.

                          The Conclave is presently assembling a foraging party in the Dining Hall, to travel to our copper seam and retrieve what materials we can. We will be departing by the 9th late bell, this 23rd evening on Tui's. Those surface dwellers not in ill standing with the Conclave are welcome to gather here and join us. As always, the Conclave expects those of you joining us below to be aware of the politics, risks and consequences of traveling the Under, and to be able to decide for yourself whether to accept them.

                            Good people,

                            Thanks to your kind contributions, we've finished casting and assembling three lightning rod contraptions, after which I still have almost forty ounces of earth primer left over. Regretfully I am still not able to create any of the air dissolvant without malachite gemstone.

                            Also please know that no more granite stone is needed for the crate at the foot of the bridge. I have far more than I'll need for this project now. However ye may now start adding obsidian, saltpeter and moss as ye find it.

                            Thank ye kindly.

                              Please note, six pieces of malachite gemstone were delivered to Master Orson this evening.

                              By my hand,
