  • It's definitely been either Leer-Cow or Lurk-ow in my head a few times back and forth, without realizing one was so silly. Hahah.

    Probably leaning more towards Leer-Cow, I graphed his name from Lircay, Peru - - Which is pronounced "Leer-Kay"

    • I tried to find a picture of a leering cow, but I was unimpressed with the google options.

      • Reviving this thread because I am curious! How do you pronounce your character's name and how do you mispronounce others?

        I'm especially interested in how people say 'Ezraella', 'Roisine' and 'Getheaht' and how many syllables you give 'Melle' and 'Galatea'.

        (You can probably guess how to pronounce Brook? I mean, I will gladly share if anyone is struggling.)

        • I would think that that Ezraella would be Ez-ray-ella (Or sometimes think Ez-ruh-ella, but I like the first one better)
          Roisine, I have always pronounced Roy-seen.
          I am not sure about Getheaht. I always struggle with the pronunciation.

          I always thought Melle was just one syllable.
          I think Galatea would be four, but my pronunciation would probably be wrong. Gal-la-tay-uh.

          Let's see who else I can think of...

          Kaspar - like Casper the friendly ghost.
          Euphelia - You-feel-ee-uh.
          Adeline - A-dull-line. (The A is like at)

          Brook - akl-sdk-ljh < Am I right?

            Maybe in Northern lmao

            I say:

            Roisine: Roy-seen
            Melle: Mell (one syllable too)
            Galatea: Gal ah tee (I believe this is wrong?)
            Ezraella: Ez rail ee ah (think this is wrong too!)
            Euphelia: Yoof eel ee ah
            Getheaht: Get hart (?!)

            • my IC reasoning is that melle pronounces his own name "MELL-uh" (like it's a german word) but most other people tend to shorten it to one syllable (mell) and he doesn't care. it's a weird name anyway, honestly i should have put more thought into it. i didn't think i'd be playing this game for five years. :|

              roisine - roh-SHEEN (it's irish their spellings are always bizarre)
              galatea - ga-la-TAY-uh
              ezraella - ez-ray-ELL-uh
              euphelia - you-PHEEL-ee-ah
              getheaht - guh-THEET
              caillean - KAI-lee-un
              ibar - EE-bar
              vasilisa - vah-sih-LEE-sah
              vaden - VAY-dun
              hieronyma - high-RON-im-uh
              bernier - BERN-ee-ay
              odebain - OH-duh-bane
              caletus - cuh-LEE-tuss
              adayne - uh-DANE
              boreas - bor-AY-us (or bor-EE-us? not sure.)
              vivienne - vih-vee-ENN
              brook - brook (rhymes with kook)

              as another note i'm british and we tend to revert to the schwa (the uh sound) a lot more than americans in our everyday pronunciation.

              • I want a hard name, that way people can try and fail at pronouncing it. LOL.

                • MIne is a the difficulty level of Brook's so ...

                  But! I wanted to weigh in because I pronounce
                  Charmiam: Kar-me-um
                  Ezraella: Ez-ray-luh
                  Boreas: Bore-ee-us
                  Vaden: Vay-den
                  Roisine: Roy-seen

                  I'll abashedly say I also pronounce Hieronyma: Hero-knee-muh - but I imagine Mell's (yep, I'm in that boat) pronunciation is actually correct.

                  For the UB folks:

                  Pruul: Rhymes with cruel <.<
                  Baenor: Bay-nor
                  Grimir: Grim-ear, but since he shortens it differently, I think I have it wrong.
                  Seach: See-ch
                  Solaria: Soul-are-ee-uh
                  Maeve: May-v (just the v sound, not the letter)
                  Acolyte Natura of the Faith
                  Courtier
                  Embinders Hobbyist

                  • Melle's pronunciation of my name is correct - I actually know someone RL with this name which is how I can comfortably confirm this. However, I have to admit I call him Mell (like smell) in my head, sorry!!

                    • I thought of some others.

                      Caillean = Kay-leen
                      Alrik = Ale-rick
                      Setsuna = Set-soon-uh
                      Adayne = Uh-dane
                      Vestio = Vest-ee-oh
                      Adahn - Uh-dawn
                      Halvard = Hal-verd
                      Launfal = Lun-fall
                      Bernier = Burn-ee-a (the letter a)

                      Apparently I favor uhs and ees.

                      • I would think Launfal would be Lawn-Fall. Like the aun in Leprechaun.
                        Alrik, I would pronounce it Al-Rick or All-rick
                        Caillean I always thought it was Kie (like kite) lee-un.
                        Grimir, gri-meer with the 'GRI' having a slight i/uh mix.

                        • Sometimes I like to just keep people guessing, but... Gala - taya (which is why some just call her "Tayah" for short)

                          Ga-latia is also kind of pretty, but not usually how I imagine it.

                          I hear Gala-tee sometimes, that's the absolute worst, don't do that. x_X

                          It was taken from a greek legend however, so who knows, it probably sounds like 'Karen'. Dame Karen is pretty dope.

                          Melle I always just pronounced just like Mel Gibson.

                          Roisine... Roy - sine, usually.
                          "I am not afraid, I was born to do this."

                          • The way I say it Gala-tay-uh looks to be closest to Polish pronunciation. I say Tayah correctly but apparently my brain doesn't like it in the full name >.>

                            Anyway, for those interested in killing some time inputting names: http://www.pronouncekiwi.com/Galatea...ek%20mythology) -- you can put in any name at the top and listen.
