  • Chronicle of Happenings (18.10.29-18.11.04)

    For the period starting the twenty-ninth day of the Tenth Moon, and ending the fourth day of the Eleventh Moon, Eighteenth Year of the Recent Awakenings;

In accordance to the will of the Lord Chamberlain, and in upholding the duties charged to the Office of the Chronicler, we hereby submit an
    accounting of this week's happenings.

    HAPPENINGS OF THE INNER BAILEY
Bee Escapes, dies of cold - 10.31
Sad news from the Conservatory today, one of Lady Hieronyma's bees managed to escape and subsequently perished from exposure to the winter air. Questioned as to the possibility of an accidental release, sera Isadora was adamant that was an impossibility. Malicious intent is therefore suspected by the sera. Anyone who may have witnessed anything untoward in the vicinity of the Conservatory should advise sera Isadora at their earliest opportunity. A private memorial ceremony is to be held in honour of the deceased Apidae.

Duel betwixt Nobles ends in triumph for Duke - 11.02
Denizens from Inner, Outer, and Under Baileys gathered to witness the duel to first blood between Lord Vestio of the Winter Court and Duke Lucus of Rumiss. Overseen by the Royal Sorceress, Mistress Blodwen, seconds Master Osric and ser Atmos prepared the proceedings in accordance with the Code Duello for a proper bout.

The duel did not last long, with the Duke of Rumiss striking quickly and strongly against the defensive counter-attacks of Lord Vestio. A swift strike to the foot of Lord Vestio ended the duel, and the matter brought with it.

    HAPPENINGS OF THE OUTER BAILEY
    The Oinking Goo - 10.31
A curious orange ooze leaked out from under the Alchemist Hall's door onto the landing outside the Alchemists Hall, causing quite a bit of mayhem with those who interacted with it. This mysterious substance was a puddle of bright orange goo, which nearly blocked the entire landing.

Several people were adventurous enough to interact with the goo, causing various side-effects. The ooze was very cold to the touch, and those who smelled it turned a bright shade of green. Some very adventurous souls tasted it, and the ooze caused their tongues to swell so much they could barely breathe and couldn't speak.. As a group of people clustered around the goo,
Lieutenant Natasha, of the Royal Army, tried to contain the mysterious ooze within a jar, but it refused to budge. In fact, to the surprise and shock of those present, it oinked when people tried to shift it. The puddle of strange goo was quickly dealt with once the Master Alchemist came from his hall and saw the mess, though it left temporary impressions on those who interacted with it.

    Master Orson's Appearance and Request - 10.31
A crowd gathered in the Outer Bailey Courtyard in the evening to hear Master Orson speak of his latest project, a quest for making a Philosopher's Stone. The stone is an extremely powerful alchemical artifact with almost limitless potential, and could be used to restore the Heir, Prince Bertram, to full vigor. His Royal Highness has been under the weather for the past few moons, and has withdrawn from public life. The orange goo referenced earlier in this document was a by-product of some of the Royal Alchemist's experiments.

While present, Master Orson listed a number of ingredients he would need from the denizenry, such as six pieces of pure gold, essence of phoenix, and a magical item that gains its power through sorcery. Persons with such items to give to this cause are to send them to Master Orson's assistant in this matter, Mistress Rikka.

    Inaugural Writers Bell a success - 11.02
The first class offered by the Royal Collegium and Royal Library by mistresses Jerisa and Adeline on writing brought in nearly ten guests to enjoy the refreshments and written exercise, held in the Outer Bailey Library in the evening.

The first class was called "On Writing Well and Vividly". The lesson drew denizens from both the Inner and Outer Baileys.
After offering refreshments to all, Mistress Jerisa completed a short introduction with some definitions and then played a game where each attendee adjusted a plain comment into a much more "vivid" statement. Many of the students made exaggerated answers were excellent examples of the points Mistress Jerisa was attempting to relay.

With everyone appearing to enjoy the class, Mistress Jerisa announced more would be held in the future.

Ghost Ball delivers new Dragon page - 11.04
The annual Ghost Ball was well-attended, with residents from both baileys in strong attendance. As usual, everyone held their breath a little, waiting for the surprise and spooky event of the night. In years prior, the thinning of the veil around the end of the Tenth Moon has led to some fascinating, terrifying and spooky phenomena.

This year was no different; an orange gourd floated into the Bowling Lounge, seemingly propelled by mystical power alone, as no strings could be seen between it and the floor, ceiling or walls. It appeared harmless to the touch, but in the end harmlessly exploding, releasing candy and treats...and another piece of the Dragon Journal.

    The Nightstalker's Second Attack - 11.04
Shortly following the completion of the Ghost ball a scream was heard immediately north of the the Bowling Lounge. When the Lounge door was opened the Ethereal Night Stalker was standing in the hall. Multiple members of the Royal Army still present, charged the beast and heroically defended the bystanders. However, after the Army engaged the beast disappeared.

After a few moments of silence, a scream was heard in the Bowling Lounge. Upon re-entry, the beast was approaching Mistress Adeline and Lieutenant Adahn successfully speared the beast. The spear was not enough and the beast was able to bite her. From this point the Royal Army was able to push the beast back until it dematerialized.

Sera Elora was able to partially stabilize sera Adeline's wounds until Doctor Dolph arrived. Mistress Adeline was then moved to the Royal Hospital under Doctor Dolph's care. Mistress Adeline continues to recover.

The Nightstalker appeared to have some telepathic ability to force its will upon others, with both Dame Galatea and Sir Darvius experiencing compulsions from the beast. According to Sir Darvius, the creature's emotions and thoughts were made known to him, and he said the Nightstalker feels compelled to kill those who are weak.
