Downtimes: June 24 - July 2nd

We've got another batch of shutdowns coming in late June and early July, so that the machines can be repaired for the newest bug, the ZombieLoad CPU bug.

In general, the Genesis games (Grendel, TEC, TEC-Test) all have reboots scheduled for the absolute middle of the night, so I'll be taking each down the previous evening at midnight and bringing them back up the next morning at 9am.

The SkotOS games have always been more robust about reboots, so we'll let them reboot on their own, though there's some chance for an ~2 hour data loss. In any case, I'll be checking them after the 2-hour window when I can, though Marrach has a middle-of-the-night reboot, so that'll be the next morning.

The UserDB and Web reboots will cause some downtime for the entire site, but again they will hopefully come up cleanly.

Twenty-fifth day of the Eleventh Moon,
    Eighteenth Year of Recent Awakenings

In accordance with the will of Her Majesty and in upholding the duties charged to me as Chronicler of the Court, I hereby submit the account of the Bloom Harvesting Expedition. This Chronicle is part of the Triangle and the Black Dame series.

Animated corpses and giant rats could not keep determined residents of Castle Marrach from their goal, which was a rare underground flower that grew in the realm of Rumiss.

Late in the evening on the twenty-fifth day of the Eleventh Moon, Duke Lucus and Duchess Oriana, the rulers of the realm below, arrived in the Outer Bailey Courtyard to escort a harvesting party and its protectors to where the rare plant grew. The Duchess explained that harvesting the plant was not easy, as it was delicate and its roots also had to be gently pulled free from the soil.

She and the Duke escorted a party of about ten harvesters and three protectors -- masters Aratan and Nexian and ser Pete -- down below. The trip through the winding tunnels of the realm Below would be impossible to describe with any accuracy, given all the twists, turns, and candle-lit circumstances.

The martial party went on ahead of the harvesters, putting down several undead zombies and rats of unusual size (ROUS), including some pudgy silver ones. After the way was clear, the harvesters followed, until they reached the area where the plants grew.

There, the harvesters set to work, receiving guidance from the former leader of the Garden Society, the duchess herself. Without her guidance and instruction, the plants harvested would have likely been in ruin. Multiple species of plants were harvested from the growing patch, some for which the Duchess offered coin.

In the end, the harvesters -- Mistress Juliana, seras Euphelia, Isadora, Elora, Kamilah, Anby, Caillean, and Taite, and ser Meoris -- returned safely to the realm above. Sera Vasilisa also came, as a guardian for the harvesters.

Not all was peaceful while the harvesters ventured below; Carla, shadowed and a traitor in league with the criminal Conal, tried to gain entrance to the infirmary where the wounded and ill were housed. When those left to guard the unhealthy denied her entrance, she left and returned with the Ebon Dame, who shattered the door with powerful blows from her gauntleted hand.

Carla, a man in a shadow cloak, and an unknown woman entered; the woman used a crossbow to shoot a bolt of shadow into the chest of Mistress Ezraella, who was present to help tend the sick.

Then the Shadowed party, including the Ebon Dame, departed. Mistress Ezraella took a great wound, but was tended quickly by the healers present, and no harm seemed to come to the already-ill. Efforts were made to relocate the wounded to the Inner Bailey hospital, where it is hoped they will be safer.

Though the Handmaiden's wounds were serious, she was tended promptly and will recover from her injury, though it will take time.

This chronicle will be subject to changes and corrections, as I humbly ask all readers please indicate to me though discretion any falsehoods I may have mistakenly communicated. It is by means of the conservation of the Past that we continue to serve Her Majesty and give substance to those that follow.

In service to Her Majesty Queen Vivienne, The Office of the Chronicler, and the Denizenry of Her Majesty's Realm,

    Euphelia Noronos
    Chronicler of the Court
