  • The Queen's Unexpected Vow

Second day of the Second Moon,
    Nineteenth Year of Recent Awakenings

In accordance with the will of Her Majesty and in upholding the duties charged to me as a Junior Chronicler, I hereby submit the account of "The Queen's Unexpected Vow."

Her Royal Majesty, Queen Vivienne rendered the denizens attending a Natura Balanus ceremony speechless, when she asked to take the vows to become a Seeker of the Faith, after a visit to the Outer Bailey Shrine on the twenty-eighth day of the first moon.

The Queen’s presence was an unexpected surprise at the Seeker induction ceremony, held at the Outer Bailey Shrine by the First Acolyte of the Natura Balanus, Mistress Adayne. Many were in attendance of the ritual, some returning Seekers from years past, and some coming to the Faith for the first time. The air was filled with a reverent peacefulness, as each Seeker took their vows. Each Seeker had a different reason for coming to the Faith; some for personal Balance, and some to help restore Balance in both their life and the life of the Keep.

As the ritual was just about to begin, Her Royal Majesty and Her father, King Auberich of Avalon entered the Shrine, accompanied by the lead Royal Equerry, Sir Donovon, handmaidens Heulyn, Ezraella, and Irene, and Dame Umichan. The entire Shrine collectively knelt, and She gracefully stepped to the side, Her father at Her side. Their presence brought one of serene awe to an already sacred ceremony. Mistress Adayne then began the ritual, asking those who wished to enter the folds of the Faith to raise their hands. Hands slowly raised, from Lady Charmiam, to Doctor Dolph, to seras Juliee and Seraphus. But, as Mistress Adayne was about to continue, Her Majesty held up Her right hand, indicating that She too wished to become a Seeker of the Faith.

The ceremony continue quietly, with each of the soon-to-be Seekers following the steps that the Acolyte laid out. As it drew time for each Seeker to be anointed, Mistress Adayne stepped first to Her Majesty, and carefully brushed Her forehead with the anointing oil, welcoming Her into the caring folds of the Faith.

“Welcome, Seeker Vivienne. The Balance is stronger for Your Majesty's presence.” Mistress Adayne’s words rang out in the Shrine, as those present knelt in a reverent silence. One-by-one, the Acolyte stepped to each Seeker, anointing them with oil and welcoming words, handing each a small green leaf to wear.

Once all of the Seekers were anointed, the ceremony ended with conclusive words. “Let it be known that this day that those just anointed before you all have joined their path with the path of Natura Balanus. Let their way be clear. By the bough, the bud, the bloom and the leaf. So may it be." Mistress Adayne then invited each Seeker to take a sketch of the Outer Shrine, a parchment outlining the precepts of the Faith, and a white candle, for meditation. Slowly, each Seeker approached the altar, and, taking the items, reverently paused a moment, in reflection of the ceremony that had just happened.

Their Majesties quietly left the Shrine, and those who had attended reverently left, surrounded by friends and fellow Seekers.

Many were inducted along with Her Majesty, including Her Ladyship Charmiam, Doctor Dolph, mistresses Ezraella, Merrynn, and Josie, sers Adahn, Gareth, and Atmos, and seras Juliee, Kimmi, Vasilisa, Seraphus, Yolanda, Taite, and Diana.

This chronicle will be subject to changes and corrections, as I humbly ask all readers please indicate to me though discretion any falsehoods I may have mistakenly communicated. It is by means of the conservation of the Past that we continue to serve Her Majesty and give substance to those that follow.

In service to Her Majesty Queen Vivienne, The Office of the Chronicler, and the Denizenry of Her Majesty's Realm,
