  • Chronicle - Her Majesty's Royal Court (XV)

    Eighth month, twenty-eighth day
    Year Five of the Recent Awakenings

    Her Majesty’s Royal Court

    To the Denizenry of Her Majesty's Castle Marrach;

    In accordance to the will of the Lord Chamberlain, and in upholding the duties charged to me as a Court Chronicler, I hereby submit an account of Her Majesty’s Royal Court.

    On the twenty-eighth day of the eighth moon, Her Majesty Queen Vivienne convened Her Royal Court. The Royal Throne room was opened to denizens of the Castle at one late bell, and denizens were allowed to progress within in order of rank.

    The Court was allowed to socialize for a near bell before the Heralds began to play their processional, announcing the arrival of Her Majesty. Her Majesty was accompanied by her son, Prince Bertram; her Lady in Waiting, Lady Berthe, the Lord Chamberlain Sir Launfal, and the Captain of the Royal Guard, Dame Takara.

    On behalf of Her Majesty, Lord Launfal welcomed those in attendance, and called the names of those promoted to Honoured Guest:
    • Ser Morrolan, sponsored by Prince Bertram and ser Salain;
    • Sera Adayne, sponsored by Queen Vivienne and First Acolyte Ophidias;
    • Sera Valora, sponsored by Lord Gracien and sera Isadora;
    • Sera Finna, sponsored by First Acolyte Ophidias and sera Judith;
    • Ser Brendon, Sponsored by Dame Hannah;
    • Sera Tristana, sponsored by the Queen’s household and sera Isadora;
    • Sera Nixa, sponsored by Doctors Destini and Diana;
    • Ser Ward, sponsored by Doctors Mielyr and Samia;
    • Sera Brighde, sponsored by sera Illiana.
    Following the promotion of the Honoured Guests, Lord Launfal moved on to announce those promoted to the rank of Courtier.
    • Sera Aloria, sponsored by Doctors Mielyr and Diana;
    • Ser Corian, sponsored by Prince Bertram;
    • Sera Nizhoni, sponsored by Lord Launfal;
    • Sera Britta, sponsored by Prince Bertram.
    Following the announcement of those promoted to Courtier, Lord Launfal announced the following changes to the Great Chain of Being on behalf of Her Majesty:
    • Positions that are filled by those inactive for some time will be cleared, the updated Chain to be posted after Court;
    • Sera Brighde is promoted to the position of Royal Almoner, upon sera Illiana’s resignation;
    • Sera Adalyn is promoted to the position of Mistress of Entertainments;
    • Sera Eleren is promoted to Secretary of the Royal Orders;
    • Sera Nizhoni is promoted to Chief Scribe of the Chambers.
    It was also announced that the Office of Royal Orders would auditing existing guilds to make certain they are fulfilling their charters. The Lord Chamberlain did then thank Master Ali-Jahib on behalf of Her Majesty, for his return to the Castle. The Master, resplendent in turquoise and red, brought a trunk with him, bearing gifts.

    For Prince Bertram, Master Ali-Jahib brought a dwarven axe, made of steel. The Prince accepted the gift with thanks for the Master, clearly delighted in the weapon. For the Queen’s consort, the Master brought a dagger with its blade made of ice, with a diamond set in the pommel. Lord Launfal did accept the dagger on behalf of the absent Consort. Finally, for her Majesty Master Ali-Jahib did bring a golden hairpiece shaped as a lotus. In the center of the flower, a large teardrop-shaped Sunstone was set.

    At this time, Lord Launfal reminded the assembled denizenry that any petitions should be sent before the next announcement of Royal Court, and on behalf of Her Majesty, invited any who had business to step forth and speak. At this time, Master Odebain stepped forth and greeted her Majesty. Apologising for his slow response to her summons, Master Odebain prostrated himself before the Queen. Her Majesty did bid the Master to rise. Through her words, Master Odebain was revealed to be the Witchfinder, also known as Old Bane. Her Majesty bid the Master to do anything in his power to waken her consort, Lord Boreas. After a brief discussion about who may assist the Witchfinder, Master Odebain stepped to the side.

    Lord Launfal announced that Her Majesty would hold a more quiet audience in a time to be announced, where special awards of service and merit would be awarded. When no others stepped forward with business, Lord Launfal did bid all to kneel before Her Majesty, and Her Majesty and her party exited the throne room.

    This chronicle will be subject to changes and corrections, as I humbly ask that the readers indicate to me through their discretion any falsehood I may have mistakenly communicated.

    In service to Her Majesty Queen Vivienne, the Lord Chamberlain, the Chronicler's Office, and the Denizenry of our Gracious Queen's Realm;

    Ser Darcy
    Court Chronicler
