  • Tournament of Prowess

Twelfth day of the Tenth moon,
    Fourteenth Year of Recent Awakenings

In accordance to the will of Her Majesty and the Prince-Regent, and in upholding the duties charged to me as Aspirant Chronicler, I hereby submit an account of the Tournament of Prowess.

On the twelfth day of the tenth moon, the Society of Duelists did host a Tournament of Prowess in celebration of Ardor Week. The Tourney was marshaled by Duelist Cephaea, who had posted a public announcement inviting Her Majesty's guests to participate earlier in the week. In keeping with the theme of Ardor, each challenger was asked to dedicate his or her matches to someone they held great affection for, be it romantic love or another form of adoration. The Tournament was to divided into three tiers, which slotted the entrants based on the level of training to which they had been privy; the Novice Tier for those who had less than six moons experience, the Commons Tier for those with seven moons or greater worth of practice, and the Court Tier which was reserved for members of the Winter Court, and those who bore Chivalric title.

There was a fine turn out to the Tournament, which included notable attendants such as sponsor of the Society of Duelists, His Highness Prince-Regent Bertram, and the Royal Chirurgeon Doctor Diana. Challengers included Dame Wilena, seras Qdee, Carla, Marinda, Kireena, and Petrova, as well as Master Aratan, Watchmen Corren and Kruel, and sers Alexandr, Voltamir, and Chrestian.
    • Dame Wilena fought for Her Majesty, as well as sera Heulyn, whom she loves like a sister,
    • Master Aratan fought for Her Majesty, for His Highness, for his brethren, and beloved,
    • Watchman Kruel fought for sera Liona,
    • Watchman Corren fought for Mistress Euphelia,
    • Sera Qdee fought for ser Aser,
    • Sera Carla fought for ser Chrestian,
    • Sera Marinda fought for Her Majesty, and for all newly awakened guests,
    • Sera Kireena fought for sera Yolanda,
    • Sera Petrova fought for Her Majesty,
    • Ser Alexandr fought for Doctor Diana,
    • Ser Voltamir fought for sera Eris, and
    • Ser Chrestian fought for sera Carla.

Though the Tournament of Prowess was deemed a great success, the event did not commence without a few small trials for the organizers. Sera Juliee and both sers Tripper and Onix did not arrive to the event, which resulted in both sera Qdee and ser Aratan having an advancement to the second round in their tier. Ser Tatch withdrew from the Tourney, which left a space in the Commons Tier. Special thanks was given to sera Petrova, who volunteered from the audience to replace ser Tatch. In the spirit of Ardor Week, sera Marinda acknowledged sera Petrova's lack of formal training, and thoughtfully offered to elevate herself to the Commons Tier, providing a space for sera Petrova to compete within the novice tier.

The Court Tier was fought first, and after a duel between Dame Wilena and ser Alexandr, the Dame came out the champion.

The Novice Tier commenced next, in which Watchman Corren emerged triumphant against both sera Kireena and ser Chrestian.

The largest tier of competitors was saved for last, and within the Common Tier sera Qdee was named victor after one bye and two matches.

A detailed account of the Tournaments rules, as well as a complete list of matches and their details, can be found on the public bulletin boards.

This chronicle will be subject to changes and corrections, as I humbly ask that the readers indicate to me through their discretion any falsehoods I may have mistakenly communicated. It is by means of the conservation of the Past that we continue to serve Her Majesty and give substance to those that follow.

In service to Her Majesty Queen Vivienne, Prince-Regent Bertram, the Office of the Chronicler, and the Denizenry of our Gracious Queen's Realm,

    Sera Signy
    Aspirant Chronicler
