Skotos Forums Closing: September 30

The Skotos Forums are officially closing on September 30, 2020. They will go read-only on that date, and will be removed entirely sometime afterward.

We encourage the games that spun off of Skotos to create new discussion mediums of their own, and some have already done so. But the centralized discussions for Skotos will soon be a thing of the past (just as the centralized Skotos site is).

We've also posted a goodbye message to the community on our main page, which you can find here:

  • Freeform Paintings

You can now do freeform drawings/paintings on canvases without staff involvement!

Canvases can work in one of two ways:

    'paint/draw <object> on canvas'
This will copy the description of the targeted object onto the canvas. Canvases have always worked this way so no change to this functionality.

    'paint/draw on canvas'
This will bring up a popup window for you to enter a title and description for the painting and there is a word limit based on your painting skill. Once you click the 'Finish' button, your descriptions will be applied to the canvas (staff will not fix typos or other mistakes so proof read your stuff before submitting). Also, by clicking the 'Finish' button, you agree to the following rules:
    1. Submissions can have magical/supernatural themes but cannot be magical/supernatural themselves (ie. a painting of a figure that moves around the canvas).
    2. Vulgar/sexually explicit material is forbidden--if the content is not acceptable for a minor, do not submit it! When in doubt, contact staff.
    3. Avoid phrasing that forces the viewer to think or feel a certain way (ie 'this painting is so beautiful you can't help but cry').
    4. Do not reference details of the canvas that do not actually exist, such as a frame.
    5. I understand if I violate these rules, access to this command will be revoked.
All submissions will get filed in a queue and if we find any of the above rules to be broken, the object will be taken away. In the event we find a player continuously violating the rules, we will revoke access to the command.

If there are any questions or clarification is needed, please post below!

    This is amazing news!

Very quickly, does painting skill have any effect on this?
Ximen: "Burn the heretic, purge the unclean, kill the abomination."
    Sang: "What happensssss happenssssss."
Myrddin: "You, ah, you shouldn't really be, ah, doing that."

There is a word limit for paintings and that limit is based on your skill. So the better you are, the more descriptive you can get.
