  • Regarding Murder, Death & the New Jail System

    Hey guys!

I just wanted to clarify a few things for those of you who play characters that murder or get murdered on an occasional basis

    1. If you are murdered, you cannot testify in game against your murderer because people don't just get resurrected and magically remember everything that happened to them prior to death. You need witnesses and/or some solid in game proof that other people can find to catalog in the new 'evidence' system.

    2. If someone uses the kill command on you, please think about how it should look in game. It might require more time and a teensy bit of plotting - but having them leave a mark on your body (for evidence, naturally) might make all the difference you need to get back at them later. For example: Bob decides he's going to kill Joey by cutting open his jugular. Bob can just use the @kill command, but nobody is going to know (unless told OOC, which isn't really the correct way to go about it) what Joey died from because .. uh .. there's no marks >.>. Contrarily, Bob can use the 'attack' command - leave a general wound on the neck of Joey, and then at least there is something for the law & whomever else inspects the body to go off of. We realize sometimes informing people OOC about what they could expect to see IC is necessary, it's just best to do what you can in game first.

Remembering these things will make such situations run a lot smoother. Think ahead and consider what others will need in game to assist you, or contrarily what evidence you might need to destroy

    Cheers!

Just to clarify, you are not required to forget things. But as it can happen that some forget what happened, or mix up events before their death, testimonies are deemed untrustworthy.

We do not wish to force you all not to remember, we just do not allow law to take that testimony into consideration. You are still free to point fingers and act hateful, or even forget if that is what you want.

A better and more correct elaboration. Thank you, Sira.

Yes, you are free to RP as you wish - it's just when it comes to legality that after your death your testimony is inadmissible in court (or during the conviction of the accused).

Just curious, but what happens if you uncover evidence regarding your own murder AFTER you're resurrected?

Like for example if someone verbally threatens you or tells you they did it or something?
