Can sparring be reinstituted? 1/2 SP with wooden weapons, even when at min-gains, would be fine. I really want to spar again, it was a far more social way of training and I really miss it.

    What do you think?

    Yes. Exactly as it was.

    So do it....
Argued with GM Tale on forums.
Character wakes up with 2hp and 2 fatigue, mangled face.
    Skotos didn't care.

for 0.00 SP over an entire fatigue bar. Without holding blows.

      Yep. Seems legit.

I don't see why not? We are trying to make things as easy as possible right?

Maybe make training weapons only give SP in "Dojo" or "training" areas?

I recall some people got all upset and quit over the change. The player of Dumond rings a bell in that chapter. A lot of people claimed it wasn't IC for them to go out and put themselves in danger by training in public and mindlessly beating on NPCs all day. I don't blame them if they don't find it in character. Only problem is you'll have people sitting in an inn room training with each other all day. There'd have to be some limitations to it.

Maybe no min gains for sparring? Lykatos' suggestion works as well, force people to be using the training weapons in a dojo and check in with the sensei or something.

I don't buy into what people say about no one speaking when sparring. I remember tons of RP going on back in the day in Leda's.

-0.025 SP per hit, that takes away after all other calculations.

Means at true mingains you are getting 0.00 sp.

It's only in character if I get skill points for it.

Would you keep going to the same gym, if after 14 months of working out you hadn't lost a single pound or gotten a single iota stronger or healthier?

                Just... curiosity.

It turns out that 'I don't learn anything at this school. I need to go to a different school." is a real life consideration..

                ...

                oh

                ....

                wait

                ....

                I get it now.

Not everyone tests all their moves and tactics in a beta room or on KO npcs. Sparring is that, learning how to work your combat moves? No your right, I'm a retard because its not your opinion.

I hated sparring, but I don't think bringing it back in the dojos would be a bad thing.

Pretty sure it already works that way?
Amatoria crams a fist full of biscuits in her mouth.
You pick out a biscuit from some biscuits.
You consume the last of a biscuit.
Dragaxus says to you, "You know you're quite sexy when you do that."
Amatoria spits crumbs all over, "You're just saying that."

Typically, 9 times out of 10 in TEC you are bored you just dont realize it because your brain functions at a higher rate and it keeps you from thinking about the possibility that you are simply sitting there doing absolutely nothing.

You earn 0.00 SP per hit with wood weapons if you aren't a newbie. Even at start of cycle.

And I came here to edit my post and found it had already been edited.

I apologize to mentally handicap people for the use of a prejudicial term that marginalizes their suffering. I could have easily chosen a much better fitting term.

While we are on the subject of SP

Do you earn less SP per cycle when you have saved over a certain number(1000 for example)?

Sorry to hijack. I'm all for SP while sparring even at min gains. Maybe disable SP gain outside of specific areas though. I believe they changed it due to hoards of people inside inn rooms and people sparring on the step up from the Monlon baths with stupidly high regen rates.

To my knowledge the penalties to SP earned per action are:

                            • racial penalties to certain skill sets.
                            • SP available in 'rollover' reserve.
                            • SP earned in cycle.
                            • total SP currently saved (seems to start at around 3000+)
                            • skill slot the skill being used is in.

You get an SP penalty for actions used in that day. I have never had a penalty for SP saved, no matter the amount.

I say bring it back just like it was. Doesn't really need stipulations IMO but I seriously doubt it will be brought back at all.
