Downtime Report: Wednesday Night

We had an abrupt and unannounced downtime for all games and services starting sometime after 9pm PT on Wednesday evening. This was due to a massive power outage at our cloud computing facility of the sort that redundant systems are supposed to ensure never happen. After about an hour they were able to diagnose that the power was out. It took a few more hours for them to start restoring service.

At this moment, everything is back up except for Ironclaw and TEC. At the rate they're restoring things, I hope those will be back up in the next 15-30 minutes, but it's entirely in their hands.

As is typically the case with a sudden reboot, TEC and GR have to be rolled back. This is already done with GR. The TEC rollback should be just a few hours due to the more recent backups recently instituted, but I need to get the machine back before I can verify that.

Update: Ironclaw and TEC are now back too. The TEC rollback was 2.5 hours, from 9.30pm PT (when everything crashed) to 7.00 pm PT.

  • Belhrad's New Stores

    Hi Folks,
To clear up some confusion and questions about the current state of Belhrad and his stores:
Belhrad enjoys when you buy his things.
Belhrad does not like it when you sleep in his stores.
Belhrad doesn't mind if you window show without buying, so long as you're not doing other things he doesn't like.
Belhrad does not care if you harass his bird (though the bird has a thought or two about it.)
Belhrad and his storekeepers note the sort of things you buy, including colors, materials, and descriptive accents.
If Belhrad likes you enough, he will have his shopkeepers bring things out for you when you arrive, based on the above (exact details will not be provided).
If Belhrad dislikes you enough (primarily, if you treat his stores as a flophouse), he will not allow you back until you've made an effort to make amends and talk things out with him.

As of this afternoon, the number of individual colors available at Belhrad's stores has approximately tripled. Additionally, shades of brown have been added to the generation code for these items.

To better service the varied needs of the people of Iridine, Rhiella has moved her operations over a room, leaving Levorius, her apprentice, to sell his wares in her old space. While the styles are similar, there is a cap on the prices of the items that will be sold in Levorius' space.

Belhrad's other storekeeps will have similar changes occurring throughout the coming weeks.

Miroslav will now, occasionally, have some helmets with faceplates in stock. About 20% of the time, these will not show the plate until purchased and closed, to support some players' wish for anonymity and/or lack of known association with their plate. Those helmets are priced upwards accordingly, though be warned they may be more comical than terrifying.

As we all know, Belhrad cycles through his inventory rather quickly! What happens with the items that never get purchased?

                  Soon, it could be you!

In a back room, one of Belhrad's employees has been packing up old, unsold stock, to sell at a discount!

From Sharonpa, you'll purchase a box, of varying levels of fanciness and pricing. This box will contain one, or more, items, and the original sales price of the items contained in the box will at minimum exceed what you paid.
