  • Oh man look at those cavemen go!

SpaceX shot their Falcon Heavy into low earth orbit today and delivered a test payload of 1 x Tesla Roadster and 1 x Crash Dummy (Starman). Though it remains to be seen if the center core landed on their drone landing pad at sea, the 2 side core rockets made near simultaneous landings back on earth on their landing pads. Needless to say, that s*** was dope.

With all the BS in the world, this stuff gives me hope. Best moment was me screaming like a giddy school kid as David Bowie blasted and the payload seperated from the rocket, with a full view of our pale blue dot in the background.

Scroll back a ways and you can see the earth coming into and out of the camera focus in glorious HD.

Yeah It truly is amazing, I read the book on Elon not long ago and for a while I have been a huge fan of his work on Solar and the Electric Car. He is making space accessible and exciting again.

Tired of people putting Musk on pedestal, it's easy to be successful when the government hands you 5 billion dollars. Step 1: hire smart people, Step 2-10: profit.

Have you ever dealt with a large group of extremely intelligent individuals who all have differing ideas on how to achieve a goal? Imagine that only with the absolutely smartest effing rocket scientists, aerospace engineers, computer scientists, physicists, and so on and managing to pull together a viable end product without bloodshed. I'd say that level of leadership and vision is worthy of a few kudos.

Learn more about Elon Musk, the government didn't hand him 5 billion dollars, he earned that money as a private citizen, and he started paypal to fund his other venture called tesla motors, which funded spacex... The guy is a genius, who's making the world a more interesting place. Yes he has people working for him, but he isn't government funded to start. NASA is government funded.

You should read or listen (Audible) the book on him. If you are referring to government contracts to put satellites into space.. then he certainly earnt those.
