  • Modern Clothing

This game has always been pretty strict with 'out of time period' items since I started playing in 1999. Many items refused, even if they were the same time period but from a different country.

Why is this rule now being relaxed and adding in such items as Corsets, which according to Wikipedia were not introduced until around the 1300-1600's. Is this rule now being relaxed and are we allowed to start ordering modern clothing/weapons/armour from different time periods?

I'm all for bringing in new items, but some guidelines from the GM's would be great.

    Consistency in TEC? No way.

Fact of the matter is that the "guidelines" for what a GM will and will not do for @requests has always been subjective. One GM will do things when this other GM won't. Some are strict about following the rules to the letter, others are more lax. One GM (who I will not name) yelled at me over the Aux channel because I thought the word "labret" would be okay for describing a piercing. I was told it was not "period" and to "do my research". Okay, fine. But we allow corsets, color words that were not invented until the 18th and 19th centuries, etc? Consistency seems nonexistent.
In other words, until the GM's come up with guidelines for themselves to follow (and actually follow them), I doubt we'll see anything filter down to mere players.
This isn't a bakery. We aren't gonna sugar coat sh*t for you.

Tell a lie often enough and with enough conviction, it will become truth to all who hear, and say, it.

We're going on 20 years here, with probably 2 dozen GMs, each of which has varying levels of knowledge, commitment, and even desire to make the game better. Items slip through, are forced through, or just granted regardless because the GM is friends with the player asking. These sorts of discrepancies happen all the time at all levels of business, and life. The problem is lack of accountability. There is no oversight of what GMs do, no transparency, and sometimes even questioning results in punishments. It's exactly the opposite of how I would want to be a GM, but that's what we sign up for when we agree to login.

Remember how controversial pocketed cloaks were?

Recently they've claimed that was for another reason. The problem coming from how they were implemented as opposed to thematic conflicts.

Even if it was coded wrong, there were not offers to give folks who had these a replacement.

I think Kjel got arrested some years ago for only wearing those panties.
