You observe a non-descript and short section of hallway. It had been solidly built from plain stone blocks. The smooth ceiling is about ten feet from the floor. A statue of a bald gladiator stands in a corner.
You are facing northwest. You see a hallway to the southeast, to the southwest, and to the northwest; and a marble stairway leading downwards.
A crowd of people standing shoulder-to-shoulder gradually make its way past you.

    l bald
This tall marble statue depicts a proud gladiator with a bald head standing at the ready with a trident in one hand and a net in the other.

You are at a shaded clearing. Jutting from the ground is a statue of a woman and a girl urchin. Built into it is a large water well made of mountainous stone. Next to a statue of a woman and a girl urchin is a large statue of a leech spider. Affixed to it is a plaque. Affixed to a large statue of a leech spider is a plaque. A bench-sized sadled bull statue made of stone stands off to the side here, rocking gently back and forth on occassion. On it is a small stuffed goat. A bench-sized sadled donkey statue made of stone stands off to the side here, rocking gently back and forth on occassion. A large water well made of mountainous stone has been dug here. You notice a pale green vine with large heart-shaped leaves growing here. You spot some large blackberry bushes here. You note some large stalky bushes covered in pale violet leaves here. You see a small dark green plant with four-petaled yellow flowers growing here. You notice some small deep green plants with blue-centered white flowers nearby. Some large trees with grayish bark and pale green lobed leaves rises up majestically before you. Some tall thin trees with white papery bark grow tall nearby. A large nut tree with large ragged yellow-green leaves grows nearby. Some large dark-leaved trees with thick dark runneled bark grow nearby.
You are facing north. You see a lush forest to the north, to the northeast, to the east, to the west, and to the northwest; and a bridge with a dark moat on either side to the south.

You see a tall, slender woman made of olive shaded marble. She has sea green eyes set with milky stones above a well-chiseled thin nose, full lips and a chin with a carved cleft. She is smiling while holding out an ear of corn to a small urchin that also rises from the statue's base. Long midnight-black hair is accented with marbling to present the visage in full. She has multiple jagged scars running across her neck that have been masterfully carved. The girl urchin grins, dimples dug deeply into the hard stone. She stands at the height of the woman's knees while one leg is off the ground as if mid-hop.
In Memory Of Jeanine. The Most Valuable Reaper. A Savior for Many. May she be remembered in her mighty Peace.

You see a revolting onyx marbled spider. Its eight legs are splayed beneath a thick slimy body in careful chiseling to mimic the reality of the killer beast. It has a large mouth at one end and a suction pad at the other which seems to secrete a sticky white substance that is represented with white marble inserts.
Danger is perception. Leech Spiders. Be warned.

You see a bench-sized sadled bull statue made of stone. Its legs stand on two curved iron rods, allowing it to rock back and forth.

I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive. We've created life in our own image.

This room is dim and somewhat close, redolent of incense and some other, older smell that makes you vaguely uneasy. The floor is of heavy stone slabs fit closely together, the walls of rough-hewn wood. The low ceiling is made of heavy smoke-blackened wooden beams overlaid with thatch. You can see smoke-blackened carvings struck deep into the heavy square pillars supporting the roof; sinuous, knotted and twisting designs of fantastic creatures and people.
You are facing north. You see a heavy oaken door bound in iron to the south and a simple arch and a plain arch to the west.

        l pillar
This heavy square pillar is carved of some deep reddish wood, the color all but lost under a thick layer of soot and grime. Deep carvings show what appear to be the stylized design of a massive horse, with small cowering people beneath its large hooves, in various poses on all four sides.
        l 2 pillar
This heavy square pillar is carved of some deep reddish wood, the color all but lost under a thick layer of soot and grime. Deep carvings show what appear to be the stylized design of a barbarian warrior, wearing an enormous frighthelm and wielding an axe in either hand.
        l 3 pillar
This heavy square pillar is carved of some deep reddish wood, the color all but lost under a thick layer of soot and grime. Deep carvings show what appears to be the stylized design of a mountain lion, with mouth open in a snarl and claws extended.
        l 4 pillar
This heavy square pillar is carved of some deep reddish wood, the color all but lost under a thick layer of soot and grime. Deep carvings show what appears to be the stylized design of a large bear on all fours among pine trees.
        l 5 pillar
This heavy square pillar is carved of some deep reddish wood, the color all but lost under a thick layer of soot and grime. Deep carvings show what appears to be the stylized design of an eagle striking down from the sky, beak open in a scream and talons extended. Mountain peaks are visible below it.
        l 6 pillar
This heavy square pillar is carved of some deep reddish wood, the color all but lost under a thick layer of soot and grime. Deep carvings show what appears to be the stylized design of a huge blazing sun, its rays falling down over mountain peaks and wooded valleys.

Lonely arches rise above your head, the only survivors of the ceiling structure that once covered this hall. They resemble the ribs of a skeleton, their thin shadows cast over a floor broken by grass and weeds.

You see a large, comfortably dim room. Hanging from the ceiling is a dimly glowing worked bronze lantern. You see a dark green carpet covering the entire floor. Beside a polished pearwood table are a dining couch made of dark oak and a dainty pearwood dining couch. A pale green path woven to resemble spring grasses, wanders artfully from table to table. Running along the southern wall is a cleared space, cleverly lit to spotlight an entertainer. Beside a round table of heavy dark oak are an elegant dining couch of dark oak and a graceful dining couch covered in dark green linen. Beside a small, square table is a dining couch made of oak and embroidered linen. On a polished wooden counter is a clear glass filled with deep purple liquid. A patch of new carpet has been situated in the center of the dark green carpet covering the floor. A few, colorful flowers have been fashioned out of silk, and the lighter green of the new square of carpet resembles fresh, spring green grass.

            l carpet
The carpet is thick and soft and seems almost to be a carpet of living moss.
            l path
the pale green path is actually part of the carpet. It has been woven to simulate the first pale grasses of spring, the threads pulled loose and waving slightly.

There are some descriptions that change depending on the time of day. I love that.

              Bronze Square daytime:
The sharp noises of metal striking metal and the duller murmurs of people at work in the distance seem to come from all around you from your vantage on this small plaza of lightly colored flagstones.

              Bronze Square nighttime:
The night-time quiet of this nearly-empty plaza seems to echo between its buildings and over its light flagstones like the faintest of whispers.
