  • If TEC had loot boxes what would they be?

    Hi folks,

So if TEC had loot boxes you could buy for real dollars what do you think or wish they contain? Should you be able to earn them via IC activities?

Here are a few thoughts of mine regarding what they might contain:
    • A title/emote/interaction NPCs have with you from time to time (ie. walking by a constable nods to you, a priest sees you and says a prayer, etc.)
    • RPs
    • Special haircut available from the barber
    • New scars availalbe from the generator
    • SPs
    • Bolts of cloth in special colors
    • Increase in Nehal reputation (via stash of fish/tokens?)
    • Increase in Franlius reputation (via stash of armbands?)
    • Increase in reputation from that Aralex guy I've never used (via an omelette?)
    What do you guys think?

Oh! I especially love this one. That's great.
I've never played around with a PNPC before. Making me hungry for it.

          From the Discord:
          • Double RP accumulation
          • Double SP (can we define what this would look like?)
          • Pushing back minimum gains by 100sp (throwing numbers out there)
          • Unique permanent make up
          • Unique hair colors
          • Tattoos
          • Clothing
          • Packs
          • Furniture
          • Housing decor
          • Permanent or long lasting plants
          • Non-com skill points but in package form and can only be used for non-com skill sets with a cap on how high you can go with points
Follow up question I suppose is what would you be willing to spend? Keep in mind the unfriendly currency conversion for our international players such as myself.

Double sp gain would only be worth it for combat characters if it included min-gain sp otherwise there’s no point as you get to 250 in two or three bars at the arena.

My concern is how broken the current system is. It is too expensive to buy STPs. That should be looked at in conjunction with this, if this were to be considered. The other thing to consider is why would we want this as a community? Truthfully how many people are paying for this game now? This has the potential of being a huge money pit and if not done right would effectively destroy a fairly fragile game, which is where I think we are sitting right now.

Just be clear with the intention. I'm ok with throwing money at it if it gets us paid GM support so they can be more active in the game. However, I would hate to just see more thrown down the well without a tangible benefit.

I would only want random things that would have no impact into the game - An apple tree that gives you apples via season, orange trees same. Mini fish pond (think koi) Help design an area random prize, color dyes for cloths, a machine gun

Popping in to remind players that Storypoints are not a TEC thing, they are a Skotos thing, and we do not have a role in setting the cost.

That said, I'm interested in hearing any ideas of what players would enjoy spending StPs on, that don't already exist.

                Carry on!

That's right, but you do have the ability to decide the conversion rate from StPs to RPs and it currently is atrociously low, 4:1 is a complete joke. More direct StPs purchases that keep in mind the actual RL money spent would be cool too.

500 StPs for a domus translates to 349.50$.

                  200 RPs = 34.95$ which also makes a custom weapon/armor piece worth 349.50$

                  That 20,000 RPs VC10? 3495$.

                  Stat upgrade (1000 RPs) = 174.75$.

And that's on top of what someone already pays for their basic/premium accounts (premiums do get free StPs tho). These prices are insane especially for a text-based game that requires a subscription for anything that is RP based and where the staff is on a voluntary basis (except the admin who gets paid).

On another note, Skotos will need to keep an eye out because there's a Senator that's currently trying to pass a Lootbox/Micro-transaction bill in the US which may very well affect all of its games. Also, if lootbox are to ever happen, you legally need to divulge the percentages of a player's probability to get the items in the lootboxes or you will be acting against the law and will be subject to -massive- fines in certain countries. This only applies if RL money can be used to purchase said lootboxes or if it can be converted into IG currency. Sharonpa's current "lootboxes" are fine because you cannot trade RL money towards IG money, but it could apply to RPs purchased lootboxes since you can purchase StPs with RL money and convert them into RPs.

I vote NO LOOT BOXES EVER. Keep your gambling in casinos, games are for fun, not for gambling all your money away. Loot boxes can go to hell. I don't even want them for sale for role points, since you gotta pay to use those, or get those. Which is available to buy for real money via story points, and thus... gambling for real money. Hell no.

Hush, you. *starts making randomized loot boxes and pulls up the html code for a 'pay via paypal' button to connect to his paypal account*

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad. Creativity is putting tomatoes in a fruit salad to make mango salsa. Philosophy is wondering if that means ketchup is actually a smoothie. Common Sense is knowing that no, ketchup is not a smoothie.

Hah! I certainly wouldn't be upset to throw some money at the GMs for this kind of stuff.

At the end of the day it's just a thought exercise and I'm curious to see what people are interested in.

A week of SP gains that never diminished. This couldn't do more harm than a few changes made over the past two years and would probably generate enough capital to buy some fancy server shit that'd make the game run even faster.

I want to echo a few things others have said. I think transparency of what something does is going to be critical. The way the game used to be and why the chargen is the way it is doesn't really count anymore. Give us freedom to choose our builds from a position of knowledge instead of making it a guessing game. When I roll a character in DnD I choose what I want the build to be based on what I know how the mechanics work.

I also think the price should START at 10000 RPs. It could even be a flat 10k rps for each change. It shouldn't be something you do on a whim.

Siddhe asked for feedback on what StP's should/could be used for. I'm going to brainstorm that some and come up with a post. Because I think there is something the game can gain from there.
