Downtime Report: Wednesday Night

We had an abrupt and unannounced downtime for all games and services starting sometime after 9pm PT on Wednesday evening. This was due to a massive power outage at our cloud computing facility of the sort that redundant systems are supposed to ensure never happen. After about an hour they were able to diagnose that the power was out. It took a few more hours for them to start restoring service.

At this moment, everything is back up except for Ironclaw and TEC. At the rate they're restoring things, I hope those will be back up in the next 15-30 minutes, but it's entirely in their hands.

As is typically the case with a sudden reboot, TEC and GR have to be rolled back. This is already done with GR. The TEC rollback should be just a few hours due to the more recent backups recently instituted, but I need to get the machine back before I can verify that.

Update: Ironclaw and TEC are now back too. The TEC rollback was 2.5 hours, from 9.30pm PT (when everything crashed) to 7.00 pm PT.

  • Attention Alpha Colony Citizens - Alpha Occurences

As all citizens are aware there are many exciting activities to engage in Alpha colony. Your Alpha colony government understands that this occasionally precludes citizens from engaging in other exciting happenings. It is your Alpha colony government's honor and privilege to provide updates and information regarding events in Alpha colony.

    Brain Mite Infestation
Recently an infestation of brain mites was discovered among the citizens of Alpha colony. Doctor Knight said in a statement, "It's a good thing we caught it when we did, otherwise we might have lost many valuable experiments!" While the average brain mite is considered harmless to your average citizen it is extremely dangerous to the average human.

Thanks to quick action on behalf of Alpha colony's medical citizens this infestation has been stymied. Following a very exciting brain surgery the last of the mites were disposed of and the temporary lockdown preventing doctors and other important staff to visit the colony has been lifted.

Citizens are still encouraged to submit themselves for inspection and continued monitoring.

Additional Brain Mite Information and Dr. Knight's Preventive Treatment
As you are likely aware, there has recently been an outbreak of brain mites, which are completely harmless and nothing to be concerned about. Please be advised the citizen carrying the mites has been operated on and her scalp removed. Dr. Knight offers a three stage preventive treatment to all members of the colony. You may step into his office to inquire for it. He also offers physicals for new hatchlings to uncover potential manufacturing defects, which is highly unlikely due to the doctors being exceptionally capable.

    The Botany Group
The Botany group is currently seeking to grow and regroup. Once a group is created we plan to go out to the green to investigate, dig and check the ground and grow our own plants as well as offer our services to the community in the form of lectures or new discoveries in plant life. For further information please contact Citizen Ginger via email.

      An Evening of Positive Interaction
As we are all aware, positive action is important for a healthy colony. After a long fishing and hunting trip, several citizens met at in the Pyramid's recreation parlor. Beverages were served and the citizens spent their time socializing and dancing, bonding in a productive manner. The event took play by suggestion of Sergeant Callum, a helpful Ministry of Security officer who often finds creative ways to increase the productivity of other citizens. We could all learn from these citizens.
