Forums Reversion

The cloud server that hosts the main Skotos web site and the forums experienced a hardware failure on Saturday morning that unfortunately led to severe database corruption. Several attempts to restore it failed.

This led us to our backups, but the timing was a bit unfortunate. Since the failure occurred on a weekend morning, we didn't see it until after a new backup occurred, which contained the corrupted data, and which removed our previous daily backup. This forced us to our weekly backup, which was unfortunately at the end of its time: six days old.

So, the forums are back, but we had a six-day reversion.

This should not have affects on the rest of the site, since the majority of our data is saved in our main-user-database or our games, all on remote machines.

Well. I tried the game when it first started and I must have been in a bad mood. Because I played for about ten minutes and logged off. Never to return.

Then I got bored and made a character a few days ago. Dannik.

Thanks alot. Now I have a third game I am obsessed with. Between this Lovecraft and Ironclaw I don't know what to do.

    See you in the Green.

    Glad you're addicted, Exit.

I hope you stick around, too. The more the merrier.

    (Bell)

And Dannik's a fun character too.

Point #1: Dannik rocks so hard it hurts to think about
Point #2: You're totally right though. I'm playing for like 12 hours a day now! WHERE DOES THAT TIME COME FROM!!! I don't know how I'm gonna do it but this game isn't something I can give up now. Damn you great game concept! Damn you amazingly friendly playerbase!

      I blame everyone else

There are three things that because of lack of sleep I just can't get to work.

        The e-mail in the computer.

        The hand held coms.

        The animal preserver.

        Any help would be awesome.

          1- Hand-held coms

          Help file- @help phones

First you need to press your activation pad and then to call, you type: call com "Name1". The helpfile explains it a bit better than I do. For example, to call Bell, you would type: call com "Bell1". It is case sensitive too. To talk to her, you'd just murmur or whisper into your com and the message would be sent.

          2- The animal preserver

That can be worked by aiming it at an unconscious animal. The animal has to be unconscious and not dead or alive for it to work.

3- The email in the computer

          Help file- @help computer

Handheld computers are available that can perform basic tasks, such as read and write email, check colony-wide announcements, and display user data. To operate a device, you need to either READ or WRITE upon it.
To activate a menu choice, type: WRITE ON MY [COMPUTER] "NUMERAL". Ex. WRITE ON MY COMPUTER "1"

The first menu option provides you with access to colony-wide announcements, via the game forum.

Okay, I haven't used this one yet. The help file should help a lot though.
          --------------

Hope this is the information you wanted, and good luck!

              Don't mention it.

When in doubt, just @help your problems away.

I'd like to eventually simplify how the handheld computers work. They are sort of confusing at the moment, even with help files.

Ideally, I'll turn them into something similar as CNPCs/speech -- just click on the option you want.
