Feint Changes

A bug has been fixed with the feint attacks. Prior to the bugfix, an error in the difficulty code made it nearly impossibly to succeed. This was because of (insert technical jargon here) leading to (insert technical jargon here), which forced us to (insert technical jargon here). Basically, the bug was fixed.

However, several players noticed the fix and raised the opinion that it was now far too easy to do and could be abused. Taking into consideration the feedback, we've adjusted the difficulty of the action. We've also changed it so that it now takes into account the stance of the defender as well as several attributes, including the speed of the attacker and the perception of the defender.

We believe this new system will make feints a balanced addition to a character's offensive arsenal. Naturally, we appreciate all feedback and/or bug reports.

Feint Fixes...

Apparantly it was fixed before Rindak went on his rampages. Then seeing it was too easy to take advantage of, the GMs made the second fix immediately after Rindak disappeared.

I'm gonna keep running my checks on it, i still don't like the idea of someone with 50 ranks in feint begin about to feint someone that has about 20 times their ranks. There needs to be a cap on it's usefulness, as it stands any knifer can train it say 100, and with their speed, a feint and a double cut before anyone else can even attack. It makes them far too strong.

He folds his arms and gives you a long hard look as he asks, "Are you warrior enough to take the challenge?" He smirks arrogantly then continues, "Or are you just another rookie?"

Cap the skill and make it so you can't self train it?

A selftrain cap won't help alone, since people just throw everything into basics anyway, and that will just make feint easier. Feint needs to be an independant skill, not working with basics at all, and also, unable to be selftrain.

The ability to feint should be based on the total number of offensive ranks versus the total number of defensive ranks. Then throw in stance and stats. No basics involved.

Never thought I'd hear Atilian in favor of caps. I wonder what could be motivating such an argument.

Why exactly do we need to ruin feint now? I don't see any problem with it. Every weapon has the option of using it, and it works the same way with all of them. I see Atilians point where he says it gives knifers an advantage, and all I see is knivesman actually standing a chance in keeping up combat wise with the rest of the game. and remember the move is affected by stance, so if your defensive your gonna get feinted easily no matter what rank the other person is in it, and if you were in berserk they would have no chance in hell.

I personally like this change,

whoa....I hear Atilian and caps in the same post? *watches the roof cave in*

Seriously though a system similar to tailoring needs to be implemented in some way for combat systems, I am not up on how it could be done or anything of that nature just that I think something should be done, cause as Atilian said

Basics is far overrated for combat skills and should be handled in some way... *places this on the gms to do list at number 8001*

That is all...
