Announcement: development blog.
Fellow worshippers,
Development Blog As the first post by Brian puts it far better than I ever could, I am going to keep this announcement short and to the point. The last couple of months, the MV team has been, one might admit, plagued by delays; delays caused by a plethora of reasons I won't go into here. (Suffice to say that we aren't dead until we stop kicking, and we've just gotten our hands on some pretty shiny daggers.) Instead, I'm going to go into what we have done, and what remains to be done. We know you've been waiting for this announcement for quite an unreasonable amount of time but I can assure you that the wait for news is almost over. There is still a while left before you will be able to enter the realm of mortals and immortals again, but at least you will soon know what to expect. Today, Brian sent me the results of several months worth of work on his sake, to redefine the core and the surface of what MV is truly about. The MV team will as a whole go through this document and ensure that everything is in order, and then we will post an entry in the aforementioned blog describing in detail what MV will be about. We will co-post a link to that blog entry here when it happens, and this will happen within 48 hours. -Kalle.

Will you be using the same map as before?

Not sure where (if) they might have said it but I'd say it's a very safe bet there will be a new map. It was done Alpha to Beta so nobody would have an advantage of knowing the world (and it's secret passages) over anyone else.
Also, IC, that world was destroyed so it would need to be a whole new world our character's spirits go to.

I'm curious. As someone who hopes to eventually submit his own game design, why do this as a blog rather than putting posts into the forums?
It would seem, at least to me, that rather than having a bunch of different places to be looking around that a single place is best. Most especially in the between time when the game is down. Or perhaps that is when players would have more time to look at different resources. Just wondering if there was any particular motivation behind this.

Interesting
So, it seems that the Gods have been replaced by Elders? That nicely answers the (IC) objections of characters like Warren and Tvurk to the god-concept, but it also takes out a good deal of the mystique of the game. I enjoyed playing a character who rails against the all-powerful gods. Or am I misinterpreting this when I assume that these Elders have replaced the Gods of beta-MV?
That said, I'm definitely willing to give this new plan a try, and just about every other aspect seems quite well-made from the little we know so far. So, go for it. I'll certainly look forward to playing and helping to create this world. Warren's player |

I had figured the Elders to be either powerful mortals, Maybe a step between gods and mortals. And might just be a mystery to learn in-game when it does open.

And I do agree to liking the options the gods presented. Will be helpful to have some idea before the game opens. It's been awhile but I'm still considering that group which would try to not get involved in the drama of the gods. Though the description of the changes make me wonder how it might actually fit into this new world.

The game is somewhat based on the concept of Gods and immortality, and mortality.
Do not presume that you know the full story, when you have only seen the first page. ![]() -Kalle.

Keeping our dev reports in a centralized dev blog solves a number of issues. We can easily drop a note here to get alpha/beta players' attention, but this way it also allows us to grab attention from the rest of the public, who may or may not have heard of Skotos OR MV.

It also gives us a bit more freedom to bring up the gory aspects without the risk of "boring the audience". These forums are meant to be "the community's", while the development blog is meant to be the MV team's soap box. By separating the community forums from the staff announcements, we are effectively giving ourselves more space in what is proper to bring up.
