Yeah, Archery doesn't come with anything.

All of the other weapons come with basic attack.
Herbalism comes with Medicinal Recall
Healing comes with Bandage
I'm not sure what Outdoor Basics, Pickpocketing, or Locksmithing start with, though.

Locksmithing comes with unlock.
Pickpocketing comes with grab.

Don't know about outdoor basics...maybe torch making.

The GM's should really give basic shot with archery. It costs 700 rps just as a second skill.

I think it's twig gathering for outdoor basics, because after all torch making needs branches.

Um outdoorsmen/women start with gather firewood, dig firepit, gather twigs, torch making, build fire, and stoke fire.

That's only if you choose it as a starting skill. If you learn a non-combat skill as a secondary skill, you start with one sub-skill to gain SP.

They start with seven, and there are only three other (easy) skills to learn.

Talk about an easy skill set...

Then you look at Healing, with the huge SP cost and the only useful move you start with is Bandage (and Diagnose to a lesser extent).

I've played three outdoorsmen over the last year, but never played them for over a month.

They now start with 7? *faints* I had to go and learn everything. I think. I've had my woody for an awfully long time.

A thief burst into a Florida bank one day wearing a ski mask and carrying a gun. Aiming his gun at the guard, the thief yelled, "FREEZE, MOTHER-STICKERS, THIS IS A ****-UP!"

Unwary: "Jolee rocks!"

"Of course she does, she's related to me. "

*cough*

*chuckles till the tears run down his legs*

Oh, Jolee, you kill me.

But seriously, I just started a woody myself (alright, I know what you're thinking, cut that out) and I was shocked at all the begining skills they get.

I really wanted an herbalist, but they weren't available yet. I guess I'll just have to wait patiently.

*waits patiently with a woody*

*giggles herself into a coughing fit*

You're so bad! ! I really wasn't thinking it until you said so. *eyeshift*

Guess we can both wait on the herbalism skill, and farming...and cow-tipping..*glances at Vladmir and giggles*

Well, not intentionally.
