In response to Livejournal....and goodbye

You know....I have been playing this game for a very long time. At first it was great fun, and at some points, it still is. Unfortunately, people in this community have dragged what used to be a wonderful politically-driven game, to an uncomfortable oocly politically-driven game.

An anonymous letter was sent to a girl who used to play Marrach, and it seems her whole purpose in life is to "expose" things that are wrong in Marrach. I have a good idea who sent this letter to her.

Being a student of veterinary technology, I have been preparing to graduate and do my internship VERY soon. As a consequence, I was offline for quite a bit, because I was in school, doing surgeries, monitoring pets for long nights, because well....that's what I do in real life.

In the middle of all this, which although fun, is very scary and stressful....my attention is brought to this damn letter "exposing" the "sordid" lives of myself and my husband.

You know what? I hadn't quit. I was just AFK for a while attending to my real life. And the fact that we had previously spent so much time online playing this game caused some tensions between myself and my husband. In deference to my wishes to spend less time online, my husband quit the game to spend more time with me and our child.

Of the two people I could conceive of having sent this letter, one of whom I have reported more than one VERY nasty ooc harassment situation, (as have other people as far as I have heard), and the other being a prospective staff member....

Get out of our lives. I have taken enough of the ooc harassment, nasty talk, politics, assists, and other various hurts both in regards to myself, and to some friends I have made in this game over time.

To those that are friends....in here I have detailed why both myself and my husband have left, so there is no wondering whether we will be coming back any time soon......speaking for myself, I will not. *Hugs*.

To those of you who get a kick out of being nasty, chasing people from the game, and spreading hate and discontent oocly....just...stay away. Our lives are none of your concern, our reasons for quitting/playing/ever coming back are none of your concern. Never was. I would appreciate a little respect and just omitting us from your "anonymous letters" from now on.

Having seen this letter myself, I find it very annoying that things that are IG-matters are posted like that, and not to mention that there are several facts in that annonymous letter sent to the former player, that are wrong.

I hope some people will get a real real life and let go of the past and especially let go of a GAME.

Unamused.

The whole situation is just Edited by Forum Moderator. TOS Violation-up.

Makes me regret ever talking to some people.

I just hope something's done soon.

Anything posted on Lynn's site has to be taken with a grain of salt. It's the Land of the Disaffected Stalking players, who think that by bashing the game and its flaws will somehow make it 'better' so they can come back.

I know most of the people who post there and help her with information, and each and every one of them, save one or two, are players who have quit and just stalk the game.

I was very disappointed and surprised to see Leo's name added to her list of stalker-helpers, but I guess it can't be helped.

Jorja, Morro - I know I have had a very difficult time with you and you're not my favourite people, but I wish you the best of luck with your life - and don't let anyone who posts on Lynn's site get to you. It's kinda like the 'I suck and want to hurt others' club.

... *brain click after Briseis' post* Jorja...Morro... wait... So -that's- who he's married to? Jorja, before you leave, give Morro a hug and a smack for me from Janwin. No reason. Just, completely random.

*a hug for Jorja's player too*

Well, she did say they were together in her post (quickly doublechecks) Yep, she did. -mumbles- In a roundabout referring to his goodbye post way. Sorry if I stuck my foot in it.

Anyone who read that letter and took it to heart should be stabbed. I, personally, haven't seen it, but it's simple really...

The Edited by Forum Moderator. TOS Violation business of anyone else's is YOUR life?

None.

As for the person who REVEALED such details, they're got something seriously wrong with their head. Seriously, seriously wrong.

Erin,
I am sorry to see you leave.
It's a sad truth that there are some who have such
sad pathetic lives that they have to find a way to make
them self's feel better. Those who feed into this and see
nothing wrong with it are just as bad IMHO.

Why is there such hate and discontent OOC?
Why does it have to spread into the game. If you do not
like someone OOC just leave them alone!

Be Mature for God's sake!

It's very sad that so much OOC crap is in the end what
makes players leave. One can only take so much. We pay
to play this game and to get enjoyment from it not
harassment from others OOC who are to juvenille to keep
thier mouths shut.

Way to much of this goes on and I only wish there was
something that could be done.

However there will always be unhappy miserable people
in life who want nothing but to make others as unhappy
and miserable as they are.

Being one who has had similar experience's while playing CM,
I know the hurt and anger it brings. However I will not
let anyone CHASE me away for that is what thier goal
in the end is.

I would just hope Erin's post open's some eyes and maybe
see how very much this behaviour hurts players and the
game over all. Yet again, that is thier goal.

Take care and best of luck with your career. Such a cool job

Karen.

Sheesh. That LJ woman is dogged in pursuit of whatever she's pursuing.

Sorry and angry about that letter, though I only found it because you mentioned it here. Then I got to see the rest of the various former player interviews too.

For goodness sake.

Erin, just remember the faceless entity that is the text attacks people will throw may hurt, but in the end, you have the power to ignore them and be happy with your own achievements and move on.

Wish you and Morro the best luck in life, in solving everything as well as finding new places and ways to have fun.

There'll always be whiners and piss-ants in the background trying to stir up some crap. As long as we don't feed the trolls, they won't grow and eventually diminish into nothing.

Have a blast and drop a line sometime to let us know how you're doing! *lots of hugs*

Indeed. I filed another complaint about it tonight. I'm awaiting the obligatory 'sorry, we can't do squat' thing they always pull.

Erin, I am sorry to hear about all this. I've not seen any of this, but frankly would give as much credence to any anonymous letter as I would to any other anonymous sources.

I realise that you likely just want to be done with it, and given an anonymous origin there is little that can be done. However, if this source is a current player, then not only is the LiveJournal TOS being violated, but also the Skotos TOS.

Specifically:

Quote:
. Restrictions. You agree not to do any of the following prohibited actions:

j. "stalk" or otherwise harass another; or
k. collect or store personal data about another member without the express permission of such member.
l. reveal information, to anyone without access to such information, without the express permission of a member, that (i) personally identifies such member; (ii) reveals the administrative role of such member within a game; or (iii) reveals the names of game characters identified with such member.
I would suggest referring this letter to either the CM StoryGuides, or Skotos CE. If at any time evidence comes to light as to the person who sent this, then they should act on it (should, as in, I bloody well hope they would).

I realise that this has destroyed your enjoyment of the game, but people who do this tend not to target just one person, but like to have their petty vendettas against anyone they don't like. Personally, despite the care-bear reputation I might have, I'd like to see people who do this banned from the game (ok, to save my reputation, I'd give them one warning). However, if all they do is drive people from the game, and those people do not say anything, then this lessens any action that can be taken against them.

Do not just let it happen. People too often just walk away because they think no one will listen to them, ir they don't want the hassle. People who cause problems are often the noisy ones, and so the only ones that get heard. Well, don't give in.

To quote Peter Finch:

Quote:
You've got to get mad! You've got to say, "I'm a human being, goddamn it! My life has value!" I want you to go to the window, open it, stick your head out and yell: "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"
On a personal note, I shall miss Jorja, and Morrolan too. Do not let the feelings from a game blind you to the important things in life. There is a whole world out there, and the two of you are in it together. I wish you both all the best for the future.

Paul
