OOC Parser Tricks for New Players
I've noticed that there are little tricks I've learned over the years to make CM simpler in an OOC sense. Here are some tricks at request of new players. I by far do not know them all, and even after four years could do to learn more. Please post them as you think of them!
Guestroom Door: If you type "Pull ______ Door" you can enter your room without typing "Open ______ Door, Enter _____ Door" or whatnot. Looking Into Rooms Without Entering Them If you type "Look Space" from the Dining Hall, you can see who is there without actually entering. The same is true for many places. From the Guestroom level of the Outer Bailey, you can type "Look Courtyard" and see who is in the Courtyard. From the Bowling Lounge, you can type "Look Bowling Alley" and see who is in the southern area without going into it. Disclaimer: These are OOC tricks, not secret passages. They should not affect the role-playing of the game, just the ease of use. |

Also, some other things you should see and be able to use but may not know about:
On the guest hall level, at the railing and also at the south end of the art gallery, type: > l courtyard In the Bowling Lounge, Office of Royal Orders, and Lecture Hall, there are windows: > l courtyard In your room, you can: > l window > l mirror If you want to bow / curtsey only to the people in a room, and not the npc's (guards, pages, couriers) type: > bow pcs If you want to see how you look to other people when they look at you, type: > inventory The way people see you is the first paragraph. |

Oh yes.
I = Inventory L = Look N = Makes your character move North. NE = Makes your character move Northeast. E = Makes your character move East. W = Makes your character move West. SW = Makes your character move Southwest. S = Makes your character move South. SE = Makes your character move Southeast. NW = Makes your character move Northwest. They don't have to be capitalized. They are shortcuts you can use without having to type out the whole word. |

From the OB Guest Rooms you can type "look battlements" to see the Western Battlements. Not many people seem to know that when I tell them, perhaps it's because the battlements aren't targettable as "view" when you try to look at a view (view of mountains, view of sky, ect.)
Also, "@page allow <name>" will make it so you don't have to type "@page accept <name>" every time they send you a page. The same works with "@consent allow all". However, if you want to remove someone from your consent list, don't type "@consent deny <name>" as that will make you automatically deny them. Instead type "@consent unallow <name>". Yeah, I hope that vaguely resembles English to at least some of you. Lin |

One of my favorites is to use 'here' when bowing, gazing, etc.
i.e., in the Outer Bailey Courtyard: bow here Would show 'You bow to the Outer Bailey Courtyard' If you are not sure how to spell a verb or adverb, you can use a partial word to either have the parser automatically fill in the rest (if there is only one match) or give you a list of possible words. For instance, if you wanted to bow deferentially, you could type: bow deferent .. and yes, I have been bored enough to type: say a which gives me a complete list of adverbs that start with a. ![]() |

![]() Ah, not yet mentioned is the infamous and constantly used her/him - like the 'here' mentioned above. Just like was said about the last person who enters the courtyard in Namida's post, the last male you interact with is targetable as 'him' and the last female you interact with is targetable as 'her.' Therefore: >smile at joe "Good day. You smile at Joe, "Good day." >bow to him also You bow to Joe also. >wave to John "Hello!" You wave to John, "Hello!" >smile at him happily You smile at John happily. Just be careful for the inevitable typo when you mean to type: 'bow to here partingly' and accidentally type: 'bow to her partingly' Also, the ability to look at objects does work 'deep' like Nam was saying. If you have two purses in your hands, two pouches in the first purse, and different colored scrolls in it, you can, for example: > read my 1st purse's 1st pouch's 1st cream scroll Also remember item collection categories. Say I want to look in my wardrobe for what kind of burgundy clothes I have. >l wardrobe's burgundy clothes You can also take them, for instance: >take ivory things from small box Additionally, last in first out applies in general. If you are holding ten scrolls and walk by a courier that hands you a scroll, that last one is always the first in your stack, so you can: > read my 1st scroll Oh! On scrolls, this is absolutely a big thing for me: > take scrolls from my purse You take 30 scrolls from your purse. > put my blank scrolls in my purse You put 10 plain scrolls in your purse. > l my scrolls You see 10 cream scrolls, 5 white scrolls, and 5 plain scrolls. > put my cream scrolls and my white scrolls in my purse Or... say I'm just looking for a blank plain colored scroll... > take blank plain scroll from my purse

Curious thing that used to help me alot --
Is there a compiled list of all the available adverbs and verbs somewhere? I know there used to be, but that was years and years ago. Anyone know?
